As the article states, this engine has a Compression Ratio cosiderably higher than 14:1 but less than 20:1! On a NA engine? Wow...

Porsche seriously needs to drop this motor in the next GT2, or drop the CR a shade, turbo it, and then drop it in the next GT2.

Of course if they ever produce the GT1/CGT replacement, this might work well too. Twin Turbo it to ~850 to 1200 hp ought to do it!

Back on topic... What type of oil was recommended for the Ferrari Enzo? Wasn't it nearly $60 per quart, or am I off?

Oil

There is lots of info on oil for our 997TTs. Of course, the recommended type is on the sticker in your engine compartment. I found I was using more oil (maybe twice as much) during the first 5K miles and now I only top it up (1 bar) every few weeks or so. I was a little concerned but this heavy oil use passed and now it's very reasonable. Still, buy the whole case as you will use it - it is normal, but not anywhere as bad as your owner's manual leads you to believe!). I only add 400, not 500mls (1/2 quart), when I'm down one bar so I don't even come close to overfilling it and possibly gunking up parts (which I now forget, MAF? O2 sensors?) that are prone to this when over filling oil. The "bars" aren't that accurate (as noted by my dealer's service people).

On a few road trips I almost couldn't find 0-40 and wondered what other Mobile synthetic oil I could use in a pinch. Any ideas? Thanks to the cool guys at an Anacortes Island (WA) Wal Mart who looked long and hard and found a quart that had fallen behind a shelf in the warehouse.
K.
