I could be mistaken, but I think this is the FM modulator system (Ipod is beamed through your FM radio.)

Anyone know for sure??

IPOD Install

I have heard this...and it isn't bad. since there are really "no -highs or no lows-it must be BOSE" sound sytem, it is not distorted much. It's not designed for a hi-end system, and quite frankly, if you are not so inclined, it makes perfect sense. It's junk..but so is the sound system...in my opinion ONLY

Looking at the pdf, it mentions a 3.5mm connector and a ipod docking station - if it has a 3.5mm, then would it still be through FM? I'm quite confused...
MikeGee, could you please describe exactly what this is? I agree, the bose system is by no means amazing (a very average system) - by world standards, I would not be considered an audiophile as I am a fan of MP3's, purely for convinience (I do appreciate good music on a good system - I have a high end Bowers and Wilkins setup at home)
It must be said, my mp3's are all burned from CD at 320kbps, whatever that counts for -

I have tried FM transmitters before and I absolutely hate them, and if that's the case for this, then I may not go through with it -

Thanks for the help guys...

ipod connector

My dealer installer is under the impression that nothing changes here. This was designed to stop the complaints about no ipod connectivity and PCM problems. Listening to rock, metal or rap the modulator is still scratchy..that's the word I m looking for. But it only begins to sound bad if you are concentrating on the sound and not the DRIVING. Lol!

In my 07 c4s that i sold prior to ordering my TT, I had the JL xr speakers with the cleansweep by pass system, which allows you to replace the speakers, keep the sub if you want, add a real ipod connector, still use the PCM display. AND GET BETTER SOUND..using the stock Head unit.

Thanks Mike -

What solution do you recommend for adding iPod connectivity and (if possible) using the head unit, and (I'm dreaming here) the multifunction wheel to control the audio?

Ipod

Mischal..you can do a search here for dennison or dice. I don't know if they still make a unit for the ipod or not. Rennlist even has detailed install instructions.

If you just want a few tunes, the modulator is not terrible and won't mess up your pcm or wheel. If you had a great HU and speakers, it would probably be acceptable. it is the easier, softer way.

I love music, i am going the Cleansweep way with my turbo. i get to keep the HU, install new amps and speakers

good luck!!!

This is NOT the Dension which we carry, and it is NOT a direct-to-the-bus connection. This is old news.

If you want directly ported digital sound from your iPod to your Porsche system, go HERE.

Click the Order page, and select the Dension.

Ipod

Eric:
thanks for chiming in. I think we had covered the part about the Bus, but i am glad to know that the denison is still in play. I read some posts somewhere that it was not available. To me, if not a custom system the denison would be the choice over the modualtor.

Mischal, this is the guy I was trying to remember. Give him a call if you are interested in a better sounding ipod connection. And for you, it'll keep you from having to covert or re-rip any of your protected songs, as the ipod denison ( as well as the modulator) would play them direct from the ipod
