My new 997TT w/Twin 30R's...

Just got back in the country and spoke to Tym. First of all, i would like to thank Tym for taking my car down to Texas for me. I wanted to attend the event myself but due to a conflict with my business, i was unfortunately unable to attend. To make a long story short, we did not hit 200 mph in the mile. the best run Tym had was 194.99 mph at 1.3 bar of boost. He had some problems with the TB closing in 6th gear. But i was happy to hear that he was at 190+ mph at the 3/4 mile marker, which leads me to believe that 200+ mph is definitely achieveable. In fact, i would love to see it achieved on 93 octane pump gas in March! Tym made about 12 runs, and the car performed without any mechanical hiccups. Here is a video clip of some of the runs. Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mmLyfg97w1U

KW suspension. We set up the car that way so that under hard acceleration, the car is level. this helps with the aerodynamics at high speeds.

Early Shutdown
What was the cause of the early shutdowns? The peak HP numbers you are running will easily top 200mph in the standing mile.
What happened that the car shut down prematurely?

SY, according to Tym, in 6th gear, the throttle blade was closing under high loads. We need to reprogram to factory ECU to remove or raise certain limits so the car can continue to run at high boost pressures. This was the first time the car was tested in 6th gear under full load.

Yup.
As I suspected then given the above explanation. Amazing.... You get all of this incredible performance baked into the platform and then there's just ONE small *regulator* that's in the way of greatness on a particular day.
Yes.... just a few more months until the next series of runs.... I hope she holds together until then! Either way, 200++ is obviously going to happen if you care to go to Texas.
I'd say personally that I hope you do the run yourself but then again.... at those speeds anything can happen, and it's all over at that speed. Rabbits become deadly, furry missiles at 200 mph!
Just like levered real estate deals and *available* credit facilities.... there's the abilitiy to use the leverage and then there's the rational use of leverage.
Cheers.

are you still talking about a standing mile???

I'd be very surprised and supremely impressed to see speeds in that range. Anything around 215 to 220 would be incredible. It takes an enormous amount of HP to push a TT with its drag coefficient to these kinds of speeds. I know that it has 950 crank so it is stunningly fast, but that extra 15 to 20 mph above 200 is super hard to achieve, let alone trying to keep tires from coming apart!
Awesome car with awesome versatility!

Is that your car at 3:20 into the vid? Sure looks like it.
