Sport Chrono a must?

Reprogrammed ECU
I've been wondering about the sport chrono also. What do the owners think of the option if they have gotten the ECU retuned and possibly new exhausts? I am thinking of buying a CPO 997TT without the sport chrono to get the best deal and then changing exhausts and getting the ECU done. Bad idea?

I can't drive it GOOD with the Sport Chrono on. Throttle is very sharp & responsive. I usually keep it on when driving on the highway. Turbo's spool up like crazy.
Its a PITA to drive around the city within on. I'm faster with it off. Need to teach myself how to drive with it on.

You guys need to develop faster reaction timing. I don't have a problem with SC being on. I actually drive with it on when I'm in "hyperalert" mode. Full speed ahead, Captain!

In addition to the increase in boost, I am fairly sure the Sport Chrono function ALSO alters the behavior of the center differential such that more power is sent to the rear, supposedly making the car more rear-wheel-drive biased & feel more sporty in character.
Most definitely yes to this option!

Sorry if this has been discussed to death but is sport chrono a must option on the 997 turbo? I had two regular 997s with and without and, frankly, I really didn't miss it. I know that you get the overboost on the turbo but reading some mag reviews, it seems like the overboost rarely comes into play and is difficult to trigger even in BO 1/4 mile runs. Also, will it kill the resale of my car if I order without it?

SC also allows you to adjust lighting, wipers, a/c, door locks etc.
According to the "marketing" dept.....it also results in markedly improved acceleration and "elasticity" in the mid rev range.
Get it.....

You guys who don't use your SC much because it's too hard to modulate, etc. etc......You need to practice with it until you get it down. Not to use it is a shame.
When I first got mine, I had a hard time with easy launch cuz I didn't want to burn up the clutch, so I ended up stalling a lot. I could just hear the guy behind me as the light turned green. "Hey, look at Mr. Hotshot. He can't even drive his fancy-shmancy sports car. What a Jerk! Cummon!! Hurry up!!"
With some practice, you will master all types of situations with SC both off and on. Don't miss out on the fun.
