C&D: Nissan GTR
#18
Factory tolerances are one thing, but almost a 10mph difference in trap speeds is huge.
Oh and C&D listed the tires as Dunlop SP sport 600s. Not the top offering for the GTR, but not winter tires either.

It's possible that R&T had a slow car but it's also possible (since it was the only LHD car at the time) that it hadn't been ran in anger before and was stiff. The Z06 and 997 had probably been round the block a few times.
What's interesting on this C&D test is that the acceleration log - as depicted - and quarter mile were 2 seperate runs. On the quarter mile, the GTR must have actually passed 120mph in around 10.7-10.8s, as you can't get from 120-124 in 0.3s. May have been even 0.2s faster if the 4th-5th shift was between 120 and 124mph.
The 3.3s 0-60 was recorded with a 1.3s 0-30, which is 0.2s slower than the 0-30 in the R&T article. What does that tell you? This car is capable of a 3.1s 0-60 if everything goes right!

What kind of logic is that? Piece meal times together from different magazines?

These Dunlops (SP600) are not the all season tires(Dunlop SP7010). These are the Dunlops that come on the base car. The Premium package includes the Bridgestones. These are supposedly stickier than the Bridgestones according to rumor. The Dunlop SP7010 are included with the Cold Weather package.

Sounds like it is really closer to a 550hp car than a 480hp? I would have to believe its got to be easy to drive fast with the F1 style trans and when the tuners get a hold of it I am sure it will be unreal!

GTR thread process:
1) Someone posts amazing numbers of GTR from various magazines.
2) People will say how fast the GTR is.
3) People will say it is still a Nissan.
4) HeavyChevy will say the magazine reviews are fixed.
5) Repeat step 2, 3, and 4.
6) Another magazine with great review of GTR is posted.
Rinse and Repeat.

Can you imagine that car with a Pininfarina body on that chassis....
And minus 500 lbs or so??
And a decent interior??
Nevertheless, Nissan has unseated Chevy as the maker of the best car for under 75K. The GT-R is officially the most supreme automobile under 80K.
I hear the 2010 Z06 will be a Turbo charged straight six.
