I’m looking for a deep, loud exhaust system for a 997TT. I have heard various clips on youtube but nothing really impressed me. The only one that I like so far is the 9ff system. Want the turbo to sound like a race car. Does anyone make a race system for the 997? I would appreciate and sound clips or info.

Tubi system sounds like a Honda civic, IMHO

 

You should checkout the FVD Race, Cargraphic Export loud and the Millteck. Those are amongs my favourite offerings, however I also like the AWE and Fabspeed.

 

i have awe and it sounds better in person than it did on sound clip,has a grumble to it that you actually feel when outside the car.if i go inside my house while car is running it is actually louder inside the house.with these cars exhaust being muffled by the turbochargers you may never get the sound i think you are looking for as was i,more like a gt3 with exhaust was what i was hoping for!

 

Yeah, I understand the turbo muffels the sound alot. I was watching the video of the Green GT3RS (pet frog?) last night on youtube. Shark Werks did the mods. That car is probally the best sounding car I have ever heard . Any sound clips guys?

Try listening to the speedart system. They have a cutoff switch so you can change back and forth from a muffler system to straight pipe. Best sounding exhaust I have heard for the 997 tt. They have sound clips at www.speedArt.com They are a bit pricey, but sound tremendous (imo) compared to sound clips of cargraphic, fabspeed awe, evo, techart, etc. For the exhaust switch over, a wire has got to be passed somehow into the tt cabin. No remote control offered like the vette has. I agree about the Tubi sound...not good.

If the Tubi sounds like a Honda Civic to you then any other exhaust is going to sound like a Honda Accord, Honda prelude etc. The exhaust's sound more alike then they are different, the biggest difference is in sound level. It's the car that creates much of the sound. But you might be right the Turbo does sound like a Civic. Sound is subjective & after hearing most of the exahust's IMO the Tubi sounded best & I couldnt be more happy w/ it. The speedart system sounded awful to me. If you want something LOUD then go w/ a race exhaust w/ out cans like Tubi's new system. Or sell your turbo-charged car and get a car that sounds amazing like a Ferrari.

ps: Also dont go by the sound clips, go and listen & drive for yourself otherwise you're in for trouble.

I have listened to AWE and Cargraphic; love the AWE but have not been able to audition the Tubi (so elusive!). For that reason I still haven't pulled the trigger yet; I have heard so many great things about the Tubi.

Why do you say the Tubi sounds like a Civic? Is it because of volume (not loud enough) or is it lack of low frequency rumbling?

The AWE does have an extremely nice sounding low frequency bubbling that mimics the exhaust sound of my Non Turbo 997, one that I miss *so* much, so you might want to check it out. (I am an audiophile so I am pretty confident in my sound analysis. ) From past postings, I believe Fabspeed and AWE are 2 of the deeper sounding exhausts.

Cargraphic btw is also very very nice sounding, but in a different way. Not as deep sounding as AWE, but more like a machine gun staccato, especially at WOT.

The tubi is just a little too high pitched for me. I prefer a deeper sound (I know it’s a turbo and not a flat 6). I just prefer an exhaust system with a low grumble.

I have been listening to the Speed Art systems. They sound good.

Oh, and congrats on the 550i!! I have a soft spot on my heart for this car. Actually ordered one when it first came out 2-3 years ago, white with beige interior with almost every option including that cool head up system. To make a long story short, car arrived, the dealer was having their facility painted, forgot to cover my car, and a bunch others, and proceeded to coat the WHOLE $#@%^& car with a layer of paint. True story. I canceled the order and one thing leading to another, ended up with a Porsche. To this day, I keep thinking I am destined for a BMW in the future. Bet you love the V8 engine?
