The Journey to the 997tt

We all share a common thread in that we own the same car . Maybe we dress it up differently but nonethless we all ended at a similar point .

So .....
Was this your first Porsche or were there other Porsches before it which led you to this one ?

If this was your first Porsche --is this your first sports car ?

Did anyone here make a huge transition ? For instance I once saw a guy trade in a Suburban for a 997S cab .

If you are a multiple or previous Porsche owner which ones stood out and why ?

I'll be glad to answer these on the thread too. I wonder how many of us had similar paths of car ownership and what we shared in those former steps too.

I'll give mine :

First --the list
1986 944 Turbo ( most problematic car i ever had and it took me 9 years to buy another Porsche afterwards)
1995 -993
1996 993tt
2000 996
2002 996
2005 C2S Launch Car
2007 C2S
2007 997tt

There were other cars too . For a time I bounced in and out of BMW's . In 2000 I bought an E39 M5 and loved the car but just wasn't ready for a "family car" .

In 2005 after my 02 996 and 05 997S had xenon light theft I decided to drive an anonymous looking 330i for 18 months to heal emotionally after seeing my headlights and front end torn apart in minutes .

I never made a huge transition . In short I never owned a minivan or SUV and swapped into a Porsche.

The most memorable car before this one was my 993tt . It was gorgeous (Polar Silver) and I was in my mid 30's and felt like that car was so far ahead of many other cars of its time . I loved the classic dash, 5 dials , air cooled sound , and quirky offset pedals . To this day I wish I kept several of my cars.

Chicago_Steve is infamous around these parts
1970 911T
Mitsubishi Eclipse Turbo
993 C2 (seal grey)
996 C2 Cab (atlas grey)
997 C4S Cab (midnight blue)
997 TT Cab (bassalt black)

Prior to my current TT, the most memorable car was the 996 C2 cab with sports exhaust. It had such a gutteral sound and was extremely fun to drive.

Although I do have an SUV and a minivan (for my wife), I have always driven sports cars.

This is my first Porsche and by no means my last. It's been a lifelong dream of mine to own a Porsche. I remember when I first got hooked when I drove a friend's 993 RUF BTR Turbo. I was HOOKED after driving that beast! I just knew that I had to get a Porsche after that.

I did not include the former cars of ex wives/ gfs , but they include multiple BMW's , Hondas , and now a MB . I even bought Honda's for their kids.

Current GF has the nicest car though --since she's been my absolute favorite woman of all time . It's an 07 MB E350 .

Women who have been part of my life have liked sports cars but opted for a more practical vehicle for themselves . Currently my gf and I are considering a two Porsche household VS another MB or BMW as future cars. The only snag is that I would have to buy and drive a sedan as adaily driver and it's not what i prefer to drive.

I am having a lot of fun with this Civic Si mostly because I can drive and park it anywhere.

It also makes this juvenile sounding growl that leaves me feeling like this --

(notice the 1/4 mile video takes two minutes--lol)
