My friend just put the 660hp kit on his 996 turbo at it was running 121-122mph at the 1/4 so I believe my car was producing good power. Some have argued that it should run over 130hp with my 690 kit but I disagree. Maybe with the best start it could hit 127-128mph but that is it at the San Antonio track. THe torgue number on the 690 kit is closer to 650-660. On the new modified turbo compressor wheels on the 997 turbos from EVO, AWE, Imagine and all of the rest of the tuners the car produces 700hp and 700ftbs so it faster compared to my kit and will probably break 130mph on my San Antonio track.

What is a vtg?

I was thinking 130-138 trap would be a good run.

[quote=heavychevy;1815377]Jamie, you have a different motor, ~400 less lbs, RWD and LSD. So you should expect to do more with less. Not to mention, the motors are completely different. And you run at the best Trap Speed tracks in the country. I dont think we've seen a 128 from a stock Z06 come from anywhere else.

Well maybe its not the tracks I run but the guy driving the cars?
I don't know what the 997 weighs, but my GT2 weighs 3300 pounds without driver. As far as different motor HP is HP and both are TT flat six engines so pretty similar but we could go back and forth on the subject all day, I would say go to a HP calculator on line that takes vehicle weight with driver and trap speed and tells you approximately how much HP you are making.

Evoms car has trapped 133 in AZ at 1600 ft DA.(EVT700).I peronally trapped 129+ when it was a EVT690 (race gas) about a year ago at the same track.

Some had suggested that my modded turbo should exceed 130 because of he high horsepower but I doubt it would occur on my San Antonio track. I do not have modified turbos instead I have the giac race program with intercoolers, clutch, wheels, bilsteins, brembos and headers. I am looking to upgrade to modded turbos that produce about 700hp and 700ftbs torque and I am not sure I would gain a lot except for not having to put race fuel in the car. The 997 turbo weighs propably 3500lbs plus. The car has hit mid 11s but high tens is out of the cards.

expectations

I definitely believe the tuners search for the best track to produce the best times and that creates a little bit of confusion on whether your car is producing similiar power. However, after testing my car with my friends stock 996 turbos and then his modded turbos I believe my numbers were good. The question is whether I should mod my turbos to get that extra marginal power because it does not seem like a lot. I did notice that when I drove my friends 660hp 996 turbo and step on the gas the turbo felt like it was more violent then when I stepped on my 997 turbo. We both had bilsteins on the cars but my 690hp 997 turbo felt more tame then my friends 660hp 996 turbo which created a sense that the 996 was faster.
