1/4 mile speed - my 690hp 997 turbo

I took my 997 turbo to a 1/4 track and attempted to make some runs. I was trying not to kill the clutch because it is fairly new. I have the car modded with the 690 race fuel program. My top speed was in the 124 to 125 mph range. My times were in the low 12s. I know I can do better times but I figure the top speed is a telling indicator. I would appreciate some feedback.

well ur 60ft is horibble. u should be in the area of 1.5 to 1.7 range. so that improvement alone will put you in the 11 second bracket. ur trap speed seems a little lower than it should be. do some searches but i thind u should be running about 128ish mph. that could be in the shifting. im sure u could get more speed with speed shifting but i know its kills ur synchro gears. bottom line; u need a little practice!

I was worried about ruining the new clutch so I was acting like a wimp. I definetly could have speed shifted the car and my takeoff could have been a lot better; however, I was wondering what my 690hp car should do in terms of top speed at the 1/4 mile.

What was the weather like? (Temp, humidity, barometric pressure ect...) These can have huge bearing on ETs and trap speeds.

Steve Kasper did the setup with evolution intercooler, headers, awe exhaust, intercooler tubes and Giac tuning with the 690 race program and a clutch. I did not get to dyno the car because of the breakin period of the clutch; however, the kit should be consistent.

My last 997 turbo had the upgraded vtg's, switzer exhaust, and protomotive tuning and it ran 11.4 at 127 mph at norwalk on a pretty hot day, probably around 90 degrees. I eased it out of the hole so i wouldn't kill the clutch so my 60 ft time was 2.0 seconds. what is the altitude where you are running?

I foget to mention winds

the wind was blowing at 15-20mph which I am sure cut into my top speed.

800 foot was the altitude

The racetrack was in San Antonio Texas. The biggest negative was the wind gusts that were up to 20+mphs

Should trap a lot higher than that with 690 hp. You need to get on a dyno to see if you are even in the ballpark. Your 60ft time is good enough not to affect the trap speed all that much.

You should be low 130's. Alamo dragway is only 600 ft elevation and the weather was not all THAT bad.

Should definitely be over 130mph regardless of your 60'. Your 1/8th should be over 100mph as well. What fuel were you running?
