It works - no different than the 07's. The head units will play MP3's. I play them all the time and I have inserted it into an 08 997 TT Cabrio so I know they work.

One of the easier programs to use is Cyberlinks Power to Go v.6

Download a copy(eval). Create Music Disc - then MP3 CD - drag your MP3's into the compilation box(lower bottom) and add until it says you are full. Title, Artist, etc. can all be displayed on your screen. You can also do folders if you want as well so you don't have to sort through them in one directory. It is simple and only gives you so many choices and your done. Burn and listen.

Yeah I was hoping the same but when you can put in over 150 songs on one CD do you really need a CD Changer? : )

Just exactly how do you get 150 songs on a CD? I can only get 15-20 on a 700mb disc. Give me a clue??

Wallmon - sorry it was in reference to the MP3 songs that the OP first posted.

You can only burn about 15-20 songs on a .WAV or CD format. I meant MP3 songs on a single CD. You can fit about 150 - 175 songs on each CD disc when burned as MP3 songs .mp3.

Does that make sense?

I have not decided which unit I want for MP3/IPOD playback yet as I have read reviews from this board about some of the units and not completely convinced it would be the solution I would go for. Maybe update to the new PCM 3. Who knows. Not a priority for me at the moment. This solution works out fine for me at the moment.

Sorry to ask the same question but just to confirm - 2008 CD changers won't play MP3 but the headunit does?

Is there any other aftermarket CD changer that works with 997 that will play Mp3? i guess for the extra money, I might as well get IPOD intergration kit.

There is a free utility called IMAGE BURN.

The head unit will play any .MP3 or .WMA (Windows audio file) extension.
It also recognizes tags for tune titles/artist etc.

Just be sure the audio bit rate is set no greater than > 192 for better CD compatibility playback. This is also a good balance bitrate between CD storage capacity and audio fidelity.

A CD can hold 100+ tunes so it's awesome. I don't need no stinkin ipod USB...

Stupid question, so can I just load my entire itunes onto a mp3 cd disc and play it in my car and get titles/artists and all?
Is there a special mp3 disc that you have to buy?

Yes Chris. Just use a CD burner and compile your song list and burn the .mp3 and/or .wma to a CD-R 700MB format.

Also choose a CD TITLE when you burn as this is displayed on the TT dash as well.

The .mp3 has embedded song information. nothing else to do.

You can mix .mp3 with .wma if you like. Storage capacity depends on the tune quality and duration.

It will look like one gigantic continuous album playing in your CD player listing Artist and song title.

so if you store 2 CDs in the glove compartment and one in the CD player...you have about 300 tunes to choose from on your next ride !!!!
