PDK not to come to the 997/998TT for a long time

I prefer Tiptronic over PDK for 997 Turbo.
Dual clutch gearbox is very delicate unit, my Evo X has only 350HP and it's already overheat and need oil change twice in 9000kms. My friends GTR also face the same problem with 600HP. Thats why many are buying manual Evo X, also some people even modify their GTR to manual.
997 Tiptronic is the same unit as Brabus SL 6.3 Biturbo S, with 730HP and 1100 Nm.

Thats true, but PDK is much more suitable than tip on the track, thats why nissan use GTR to race 997tt on the track,if porsche got PDK tt already,I believe nissan may not wanted to target 997tt anymore..So we need PDK tt and porsche need it,and I trust porsche can fix those problems happend on japanese dsg cars.
The major problems with PDK and DSG type gearboxes is the maintenance, durability (especially when modded), heat issues, and upgradeability. There is also the noise, jerkiness, and getting to 6th,7th gear by 40 mph when in auto mode.
Only the Ferrari's at this point have a paddle shift, non-torque converting auto that's suitable for actual racing which would be the lithmus test for me. It will work for stock to very lightly modded vehicles that go street and occasional track usage. But for hardcore track guys, I don't think PDK will cut it, though I do believe it will be much better than the Nissan unit. The Torque will end up be the undoing of the unit though. Good luck finding clutch packs etc. to handle all the power.
Tip is more durable, but unless you want big power, PDK will be better in almost every way, weight, speed, efficiency, emissions, paddle response, auto mode. The only thing it wont be better at is maintenance costs.

It's interesting that Porsche keeps saying the torque and power of the turbo and the PDK won't mix, yet....but Gemballa already has a 997 Turbo w/PDK...saw the video last week!

My guess is that they have certain tolerance production standards that they have to meet. No such thing needed for aftermarket tuners.

This is NOT a PDK. Look at the shift ****. PCM is pre 3.0 The Gemballa tech and video are wrong.

I saw paddles behind the steering wheel. Is it possible that they might have retrofitted the PDK into an older 997TT with the older PCM?

Here's what the PDK **** is supposed to look like:

I agree with you. Just thinking of all the possible reasons why he would think that.

I completely agree with that statement. This guy has no idea what he's talking about. It most certainly looks like a Tip tranny with paddles added on.
And is it me or are those two guys' accents really irritating?

Sorry to be off topic but i heard the standard 991 carrera is due in 2011 and the new turbo will be 2012 at the earliest maybe eveb 2013.
They already have 2010 carrera's MKII coming in now so you know that the 991 will be 2011 at the very earleist.
