Makes the length of the first Tarret drop link same as your stock one, install it. Now adjust the length of second one so it would connect perfectly, without causing any tension (preload) on the sway bar.

Length of drop link doesn't affect handling; which hole on the sway bar you connect to determines that. Stiffer front = understeer, stiffer rear = oversteer.

Also, be sure to install the drop links on the outside, not the inside. That is the most common mistake people make during installation, even professional shops.

Here's a pic of my Drop link.

Is this wrong?

I think if I install it the other way around, it might hit when turning?

I think you have yours on the inside and it may bind when turning lock to lock.

See attached photo....different set-up/kit...but its mounted on the outside...toward the wheel...not the chassis.

Ok, I'll have to try that, however, I think in order to do that, I might have to switch the Drop Link arm from side, put the one I have on the left side on the Right side, so it gives me the correct angle.

I'll try that out!

That's right! However, I figured since his setup is on a 996, that maybe that was why his drop link and arm were different.

But now that more people mention it, maybe I just got it wrong.

Mario and D,

Sayajin was referring to front drop link placement with our Bilstein Damptronic installation *only*, not for the JRZ/Ohlins big boys.

For Bilstein owners: With the Bilstein Damptronic, if you install the Bilstein-supplied front drop link on the inboard side of the sway bar, the plastic joint is liable to literally pop out of its socket. I believe this is strictly for the Bilstein urethane/rubber drop link (the one that comes with the Bilstein kit), not for Tarret, which I don't think is possible to be installed on the inboard side, and is impossible to pop out anyway (doesn't mean wrong placement is ok with Tarret - you do still want Tarret on the outboard side).

cannga,

Thank you!

I still have some doubts because from Powderhound's pictures, his Drop Link is also installed outwards, towards the wheel. But his seems to be different, it seems to have rubber at the bottom connection, while mine is bearings?

I'm not sure if I got it wrong or if it's possible to get wrong, but I might give it a try to check what happens!

I just came across this thread:

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...-here-bbi.html

Which REALLY helps me out because that really shows how it is installed.

Not to mention Moton is pretty much the same exact thing as JRZ.

It seems my Drop Link is correct then I would think!

Note: Cannga's image is also outboard...toward the wheel. Powderhound has the same set-up (drop link) but just has a rubber boot covering up the pivot point.

That's correct! But if you look at the thread I linked (https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...-here-bbi.html)

This is a 997.2 Turbo, pretty much the same suspension as mine. You can see the STOCK drop link actually goes Inside toward the center of the car! And they also installed the Tarret Drop Link inside as well.

Either they got it wrong too, or that's how it goes?

The car on the thread also seems to have an adjustable Sway Bar, while mine does not.

Hmmm....delay time here....note BBI doesn't actually show the hardware in place.

I believe Joey @ BBI actually consulted with my install as did PSI in Sonoma.

Take some pictures and make some calls tomorrow just to be safe....

Actually,

Taking a detailed look at my installation and BBI, there's actually some differences!

Which is very helpful to me, because I'm sure I'm the one that has it wrong .

You can see the differences.

Also, VID997, would you be able to give me information on who did your installation so I can maybe contact them tomorrow and ask them about mine?

Thank you very much!
