Official response from GIAC to comments in locked thread 136635...

No to both of those questions.
For the stock turbos, all G.I.A.C. flashes are the same.

you do not have to be a moderator to give good info.

I don't think it can be over emphasized that getting a bad CEL is not a bad thing. It is a good thing! The ECU is telling you somthing is wrong with your system so that you can fix it before a catastrophic failure occurs! All the complaints about the software causing CEL's is about the same as complaining that the oil pressure gauge reads zero. The warnings are there to protect the car, not to irritate the driver.
I chose GIAC specifically because the self-diagnostics are not tampered with. I don't want the acceptable tolerance ranges increased just to compensate for suboptimal tuning or components. It's like wanting to grow up in a super lax household vs a strict household. The strict household is supposed to keep you out of more trouble. I would be suspicious if a flash suddenly eliminated all the CEL's that my car was getting - as if you simply unplugged or deprogrammed the CEL lightbulb.

The 6 ranges are
Range 1: 7300-7500 RPM
Range 2: 7500-7700 RPM
Range 3: 7700-7900 RPM
Range 4: 7900-8400 RPM
Range 5: 8400-9500 RPM
Range 6: 9500-11000 RPM

So, is it better to keep your rev limiter set at 6750 when you flash, as I know the tendency is to bump it up a couple of hundred rpm.
Prolly a mute point, once you flash .

This is where I got my info...could be for the 997 non turbos...

You can choose either to raise the limiter or leave it stock with GIAC. The extra RPM is only for certain applications anyway. (1/4 mile runs with no need for 5th gear, in road racing you can rev-out a gear before a turn so there is no need for an up/down shift) It usually does not make the car any faster. May aswell keep your piece of mind.
