GT2 exhaust for 911 turbo

Just got print-outs for the GT2 exhaust along with the 911 turbo. The porsche mags all report a much deeper rumble for the GT2 system and over the 911 exhaust, there should be some gain in HP. Both exhaust systems look much the same. The GT2 comes with cats separate from the muffler, but hangers in both systems look like they are in same places. The exhaust tips for the GT2 are a bit larger in diameter, so they may require some bumper mod, not sure. But the fat GT-2 exhaust tips sure look sweet. However, using a GT-2 exhaust should erase any warranty doubts from Porsche and also from any new buyers when one gets ready to upgrade the '07 to the next "upgraded" turbo.

Great Question !!!! --If you want to run with it further at one point I had considered the Gt2 Turbos amongst the various turbo upgrades. I am very happy with my current setup but I imagine that if one wants to mod within OEM parameters the Gt2 has some choices .

GT2 exhaust is Ti so there should also be some weight savings. Exhaust is about 4k at the dealer.

I guess this means that the GT-2 exhaust tips don't fit the narrow tear-drop holes on the 997 tt? I guess you could use shims and keep the tear-drops. Getting another rear bumper is just more problems and expense.

I've driven the GT2 (35 miles, rpm up to about 6000) and listened to a second one another time. The exhaust note of the GT2 is a little louder than stock Turbo, has more low frequency rumbling, but still relatively quiet and continuous in character and IMHO not too exciting. If sound is what you are looking for, both AWE and Cargraphic exhausts sound better to my ears. Just my 2 cents, this is a matter of personal preference so YMMV.

As far as reducing back pressure, I don't know what the GT2 stock exhaust uses, but perhaps something like 400 or 600 cell cat or whatever it is that the stock Turbo uses? If true then both AWE and Cargraphic, using 200 cell cat, are "better."

The main advantage would be weight saving, but AWE and Tubi are also a bit lighter than stock.

I see little reason to go this route when the aftermarket will more than likelyy be as light and make more power. Just my opinion.

I would not count on the fact that using a gt2 exhaust on a turbo will erase warranty issues. It is still dealer dependent and their are dealers who would void you out in a porsche second for such a change. Best to check and double check with your dealer first.

warranty issues are not dealer dependent. It all goes back to PCNA.
