Join the 2008 Gumball 3000 Rally for FREE
This years Gumball 3000 is the 10th anniversary of the world famous rally. Vivid Racing has done 3 of these amazing events and we are attending this years US Leg as well.
To help Gumball 3000 out, we are putting an open call for vehicles to attend the San Fransisco start as well as the Hollywood and San Diego stops. We are looking for 40 vehicles at each stop to be featured as display cars for the thousands of visitors to check out. This is open for all Enthusiasts or Business vehicles. There will be tons of magazine and media press at the events. Including CNN and MTV filming. This is a great way to get some FREE exposure.
Celebrities from Rob Dyrdek, Big Black, Johnny Knoxville and the other JackAss crew, David Hasslehoff and his original KIT car, Travis Barker, and many more! Everything from lowriders, JDM tuner cars, Ferraris, Porsches, Bugatti, Lamborghini, and other cars will be on the amazing Rally.
If you want to park your car at the event, send a email to dan@vividracing.com and mpryce@gumball3000.com with a picture of your car attached. We will get back to you on the submission. Come down regardless and check out the mayhem!
San Fransisco Event Info -
Taylor Street between California Street and Sacramento Street.
8th August
Hollywood Boulevard between Highland and Orange (Kodak Theatre/Manns Theatre area).
F Street between 6th and 7th Street.
Our events always attract a HUGE crowd and will be a perfect opportunity to show off your rides. We have a giant Jumbotron LED screen at the end of the car display, and the whole car display will be barriered off so the public cannot get to your vehicles during the event display.

thats what i was about to say...i dont know why this event still takes place after death that occurred last year..class-less

The fact that Max Cooper tried to blame the Cepulyoski family for "pulling out in front" of a speeding Porsche "driving well within 60 kph." Does that crash look a 60 kph fender bender to you?
or
Nick Morley hiring a private jet to leave the country before his trial date?
or
Morley and McConville leaving the scene with other Gumball'ers without rendering assistance to the decedents?
Would it still be lame if it was your parents that were killed in a crash caused by two untrained racer wanna-bees.

Are you actually suggesting that the Gumball is a "good" thing? Lol! Gumball implicitly (if not openly) promotes profoundly reckless driving on public highways, so as to put the general public at extreme risk. I have seen the videos. I have spoken to the participants. The risk of injury or death is monumental. The Gumball participants race through public streets at speeds well in excess of 100 mph –- often in excess of 150 mph –- weaving in and out traffic, and on shoulders, as mothers drive their children home from nursery school. With all due respect, there is nothing "good" about this. It never ceases to amaze me that the authorities permit this event.
The "charitable" component of Gumball is a transparent and disingenuous marketing tool designed to legitimize what is functionally organized street racing on public streets. If charity was the real purpose, they could design an event which did not jeopardize the lives of innocent bystanders. They could have a car show, or a private track event, or both. They could also have an organized drive at safe speeds, similar to what my neighbor origanizes to raise money for the California Highway Patrol. Instead, Gumball promotes reckless driving on public streets, in and out of traffic, thereby putting all of us at extreme risk.
"Bringing up the bad is lame"??? To the contrary, ignoring the bad is lame!!!!! Sticking your head in the sand and pretending the bad does not exist, so as to justify your reckless conduct, is lame. Proffering disingenuous and wholly inadequate justifications for putting the general public at extreme risk is lame.
Craig
Ps: I fully acknowledge that my prior occasional stoplight racing was similarly reckless and unwise, albeit conisderably less egregious than Gumball.

Craig welcome back to the forum. I personally enjoy your rants.
I wont waste anymore time with you. I dont feel like pulling up the countless YouTube videos of people street racing comparing their Porsche to Corvettes and bikes. Take your hatorade somewhere else or step up and call me like a man.

Ehm, it's not like all the speeding in the world would end just because Gumball 3000 doesn't go. Seriously... I think atleast 95% of everyone in here has done some highway-pulls. Besides, the rally doesn't go in your children's schools so no worries there... Face it, speeding is all over the world all the time.

By "rant," I assume you mean my expression of an opinion different from your own. Thank you for the compliment Dan. I find these exchanges of ideas very illuminating!
Are you now justifying Gumball by reference to the panoply of street racing videos on YouTube? Is that your best argument? Let me get this straight. Because kids all across the country film themselves street racing, and post these videos on YouTube, we should permit, and even encourage, a large scale organized street race that poses a tremendous risk of injury to the general public? Is that what you are saying? Come on Dan. You can do better than that. I'll bet I can find countless YouTube videos of kids engaging in a myriad of reckless and criminal conduct. Do these videos support organized events promoting the same reckless, criminal conduct? Of course not, and your argument is completely inane.
Call you? Why would I want to do that? I have read several of the countless threads posted on car forums all over the internet, wherein your business practices are well chronicled. Based on those threads, as well as your conduct here on 6Speed, I most certainly will never do business with you, nor do I seek a personal relationship with you. Therefore, there is no reason for me to call you.
Regards,
Craig

Craig, i dont want your business. You can also read several amazing business stories about our business in industry magazines and others including Entrepreneur. You can also view many of these here http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/p...p?cID=6&pID=17. There tons of customers that have had great experiences, hence our $8M a year in sales and constant 20% growth since 2001. If you believe everything you read on the internet, then that sucks. There are many good reviews and bad. I guess you might check out the websites Paypal Sucks and Target Sucks. I bet you dont shop there do you now... for a grown guy with a ton of money and I heard is a lawyer... you sure make me smile.

seriously, be it rolling through a stop sign, doing 10mph over the posted limit or even having a drink too many and getting behind the wheel....you would be hard pressed to answer 'none of the above' in order to stand proudly on the soap box and all dangerous in their own right. Lets all lighten up a bit. Group hug everybody.
