Driving Gloves
A friend of mine has some nice '02 Porsche driving gloves in black color and I now know why some folks use them; keep your sweaty hands and oils that degrade the steering wheel and other interior parts over time. How many of you use them? also Porsche makes a nice set for '08 made of peccary leather, but $190 bucks is a lot of dough.......thoughts?

i used them during autox if it's rainy out. that way my hands don't slip on the wheel. otherwise, no, i don't use them.
i think for daily driving they get in the way and i don't get as good of a grip on the wheel with them on verses my own skin.

The only time i've ever used gloves while driving was at a dirt rally while I was wearing a full suit. Still didnt like them, I just dont think you can grip the wheel like you can normally. To me it's a control issue and when I dont have to have them by rule I wont wear them. They also make me apply more pressure to the wheel since i'm losing tactile response thinking i'm letting the wheel slip, which makes my hands tired-arms-shoulders-body fatigue. Just my .02 cents though.

My hands are dry and I can't get the grip I like on my Ferrari wheel. So, I wear gloves.
I bought a pair from AutoSport in VA for $69.00, and they are excellent.
Griots also has very good gloves that are made in England. I have two pair of those.
Either choice is a good one.

I used to always wear gloves, because I too had sweaty hands. At a Porsche driving school in Birmingham Hurley Haywood (head instructor and five Le Mans victories) told me he never wears gloves unless they are required. He said you loose the feel through your hands of what the car is doing.
When I told him I always had sweaty hands, he said I probably was nervous and should relax and ease up on my grip of the wheel. I pooh poohed his advice, but when he showed up to be my co-pilot in a driving exercise I ditched the gloves. He showed me how to relax and hold the wheel. I haven't worn gloves since.
BTW you can get a very nice pair of leather gloves from Performance for about $60.

I have an old pair of fingerless leather gloves circa 1985.
Used to wear them with my fishnets and leg warmers..
