Quick Poll: How many would seriously consider a GT-R?
#3
I find it difficult to understand why people wouldn't like a car that makes the next 911 go faster. And perhaps cheaper Without competition what would any company be?
The Audi R8 V10 should be in this poll as well.
And the fact that Porsche wasn't first with a double clutch box is a shame.
Tiptronic sounds a bit 80's doesn't it?
So yes, I would consider a GTR.

Thanks. I posted the same poll on NAGTROC to try to get a more representative sample (i.e., neutralize the natural Pro-Turbo bias here with the Pro-GT-R bias there).
I'll combine results in a couple of days and update this thread.

I would consider buying one as an addition to my tt. As a fun car I can beat up at the track. The 997tt stays either way!

Pros: Well designed handling, fast at the track, the technology is there. Nissan is to be congratulated.
Cons: The NUMBER ONE problem with this car is its weight. It's fast, but I've not seen enough evidence that it's fun, and I doubt that a 3800-3900 lb car can ever be fun, regardless of how fast. Weight is the number reason I would not buy this car.
It would be high on my list. But I would consider a used 996 GT3 before the Nissan. Even a new Lotus, or a used Audi R8, once/if the price ever comes down, will be a more intriguing choice for a second car.
Bottom line, besides being "fast at the track," does this car has any trait, and character, that makes me think to myself, wow, I must have this car once in my life? So far, the answer is no. The 996 GT3, Lotus, and Audi R8 has that advantage.

I can promise you that GT-R is fun on the track.

would get one at or below MSRP.
people who know the history of GT-R will appreciate it despite its look, which may be too futuristic for most to accept.
people who don't know the history of GT-R will not appreciate it despite what performance it carries.
