New member! Needs help on upper air bag dash panel

New to the forum, long time lurker and in need of some help.

The upper dash panel needs to be replace on my 997TT because of a liquid spill. It's the panel where the passenger side air bag pops out, the entire panel that goes across the dash where the sport chrono sits.

The dealer is saying I need to replace the entire dash as in including the front panel where the instrument cluster resides and where the adjustable air vents sit for a cost of 3k for the dash plus $3k labor. I find this hard to believe (but I've seen crazier things), why would Porsche make it so the entire dash has to be replaced if the passenger air bag goes off? That serviceable part would be the equivalent to the work needed on the panel I need replaced minus the bag. It sure looks like a replaceable panel to me.

If you are a Porsche service person and have access to the parts diagrams/numbers I'd a appreciate any part# help. If any members have had their passenger side air bag replaced, any comments on what was replaced would be appreciated as well. Thanks for any help/advice in advance!
