997 TT beats GT-R at Ring. Nissan accused of cheating.

[quote=silk;2158489]Well said Quacker, the GT-R just feels modern if compare with Porsche turbos. You have to be one to make the comparison ! I agree with you that most drivers will do better on track with GT-R than with Porsches !
That's really not the point of this thread !!!
This thread is about the Fabled Nuburgring times released by Nissan...
that NO ONE's been able to duplicate in a stock GT-R.
Any newbe will probably be faster in the GT-R...
with ALL it's electronic Gizmo's... driving the car for the student.
This just endanger's both the student & the instructor... the newbe doesn't have the experience to recover... When the GT-R exceeds the Laws of Physics and goes flying off the track.
We have had extensive disscussions about the speeds being run by students with the aid of electronics over on Rennlist. The new electronic aids are Not necessarily a Good Thing !!!

A DNF is a DNF, thats what I reported. Explain to me why I should explain the whole life story and all the excuses when it comes to the GTR? If what you say is true then the Nissan GTR has a knack of blowing up its tyres, could this be attributed to its weight? Also who in their right mind would take a race prepped car on a multi day and challenging event with just one set of tyres? This is either one extremely bad planning by the professional Dounut King crew or a convenient excuse.
The main thing there is the results of both the GT2 and GTR when both were still running. The GT2 clearly handed the GTR its a$$ (on a dry stage).

<SMALL>Very good point!!!!!!!! That is just plumb stupid. I think it was a cover up for a gearbox failure.

There is just so much controversy surrounding this car. Who would want one unless they just have money to burn? If Nissan had just put a manual in it (which would probably have made it a lot cheaper) and sold it without all the hoopla about surpassing the TT, they would probably be fine and selling them like hot cakes.

Selling like donuts, rather. Seriously? Can't get a better sponsor than donut king?

I mean, come on, 7:29 or 7:39 still make the car among the fastest production cars around the 'Ring. Who cares?
Tranny problems are overblown. Why is it that we don't hear about more and more trannies failing every week? If there are really 30+ failed trannies, that's about 2/week since volume shipments began. Why have we not heard of new cases in the month or so after the tranny news "broke?"
Perhaps because folks are no longer going out and doing 50 LC's in first 2000 miles? Perhaps because it was never a big problem in the first place?

Don't be silly - heavychevy told the whole internet exactly how it was.
Anyone would think he doesn't know what he's talking about, with his direct line to Nissan NA, lowdown on all the corrupt motoring journalists the world over and also owning and driving a GT-R.

Apparently the controversy hasn't spread that far, as you still can't buy one for less than $5K over MSRP (although falling fast).

These guys say they are seeing a lot of broken rear transmission cases on the GTR. They say they are made from aluminium and are a weak spot. They also say that Nissan is keeping close raps on this one.
Maybe they are trying to scare people to make a buck. Then again, maybe they know something?
