Oh by the way don't use the "Tro**" word. You will get an infraction...

This is about the same as Steve Millen beating the TT and Z06 by 5 seconds at Willow Springs, and then Steve Millen beating the GT2 at other places. But still some reocurring themes in there.

And then there's this.
http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/did...rgring-record/
Sequence of events:
1) Nissan tests for 7-8 months with several drivers,
2) During all that time, the best lap, which is a quite a bit faster than the rest, comes in at 7:38, a week or two before release coincidentally
3) Best lap in 8 months is said to have taken place on track with partially wet spots on it, and two weeks prior to release.
4) Nissan goes back to testing after release, claims they are "tweaking" the car for different markets
5) Nissan comes out 9 seconds faster.
6) Horst Von Suarma, ring expert and driver for Sport Auto doesnt think even the 7:38 is possible after doing a lap similar to the one he did in the Z06 which he got 7:49 and getting a 7:50.
7) Porsche tests the car, vs TT and GT2 and mash it with both on the euro MPSC which are crap. And it's the US model GT-R which is supposed to have all the "tweaks".
8) Not the first time Nissan have been caught lying and/or cheating.
Ole Heavychevy isnt the only one refusing to drink the Kool-Aid.
I fully expect 10-12 noobs and regular GT-R fanboys to make this a 30 page thread. So have at it.

There's a first gear upgrade already from Pfitzner in Australia and they are apparently working on a kit for 1st-4th. Their gear-sets perform very well in previous GTRs where they were rated for 1000bhp and used in many 8 and 9 sec cars.......
Uprated gear/shaft is on the left, stock on the right.

And I'm sure the fanboys would still use the term "Stock" GTR
I'm happy the engine hasn't gone into kamikaze mode yet, unlike the overrated RB26 that would kill all the fun just when you start passing 1bar

What now? Upgrading to a tranny that does not exist yet? Waiting for the miracle of ceramic bearings (as an engineer, I can't stop laughing about this one since it is akin to taping an Advil to your forehead for a headache)? After rebuilding the tranny and hoping that it even functions properly, the car now costs more than a 997tt and has no warranty for any of the driveline anymore.

Yes, my tranny broke. It was only a matter of time with how hard we were pushing the car. The plan all along was to upgrade the gears to be able to add a lot of power to the car. I've got new gears on the way from PPG in Australia. They've been making awesome racing gears for years.
AND NOW MY CHRISTMAS PRESENT TO ALL YOU GT-R HATERS!
A new video release of the 7:29 lap that keeps most of you awake at night.
I could swear that tire sound sure sounds exactly like normal tires from all the other GT-R track tests...

And after watching the amazing driving of this guy you can definitely tell the 'Republic' driver was no where near as skilled.

Sorry, this is not science, only testimony. Perhaps you'd like to buy some stock in "Airbourne" tablets.

Gene,
You mean to tell me you are supposed to swallow the Advil? My bad. I thought it to be more like a suppository similiar to what Nissan is prescribing to customers with tranny warranty claims.
The impractical parts of replacing the gears are...ummm...errr...COST and DRIVELINE WARRANTY! Oh yeah wasn't this supposed to be a Porsche Turbo beater, Daily Driver and Nissan Warranty Friendly car of the year? Now you have a 20K upgrade to a 80+ car which puts you in 100K territory with NO Driveline warranty, Nissan impeccable service and a Nissan Cube or Versa for your warranty car to let you pass the time while they fix your 100K car. Not the mention that the guy fixing your car is in JAPAN! But wait to pass on the savings to you they use VONAGE to call to TECH SERVICE in JAPAN though!!
I will better that. I will sleep at a Holiday Inn tonight and fix your tranny tomorrow. At the Nissan Dealership: Sir Sir I know you fix these broken transmissions and you are a "GTR" specialist with advanced 1 week training. But did you sleep at a Holiday Inn?
