How important is the axle differential lock option on a 997 TT?
Folks-
I am looking at a used 997 Turbo which does not have this option. I know the car is AWD, but in all of the turbos I have owned I have had this option for the RWD (LSD) or AWD 911 turbos.
I am buying this car (potentially) for my wife, who will not be racing very often.
Thanks in advance for any advice. - Gerry

I've heard numerous reports that it assists us drivers who are driving in snow and ice road conditions. I find it a welcome option in our Canadian winters. Or maybe it's just a good option for us drivers who are skilled-challenged on any roads that aren't dry, straight, and without traffic.

I'm debating this very point. But the car is for me and its likely to get a little track time. I'm not a great driver and I've never driven a 911 on a track before, so i'm not likely to push the car to its limits, at least for a while.
If the option is very valuable to track driving (it sure seems like it might be, AWD or not), can it be put into a car that doesn't have it?

Thats alot ($2800), but it could be worse. Is a Guard LSD something that the dealer would install or would I have to go hunting around for a tuner shop?
In this case i am looking at a trio of used 997tts, not ordering a new one. I'd 110% certainly order it on a new one.
