Can people fit in the back? + Suspension Question NYC

Im considering trading in my M6 for a 997 Turbo...

My big concern is that sometimes I pick up friends to go out.. Is it possible to fit 2 people in the back for short rides or is it completly ridiculous to even try..

In my M6, its a tight squeeze but I manage...

Also NYC is a nightmare for bumps and such.. my M6 is a pretty rough ride around town.. Does the 997 Turbo have suspension mode settings where there is a soft setting to handle bumps and such.. and does the 997 Turbo offer a Raise setting, for when the road has to many dips and potholes and id like not to bottom out... I go in the city often, but dont live there.. I just want to make sure this car can handle what ill need it for

You can fit people in the back, no its not comfortable. I'm 6'1 and my brother is 6'2" and hes sat in the back. I used to have an E46 M3 and that was very roomy in the rear, the turbo sucks, and yes it will feel ridiculous.

Suspension wise, dont worry too much about bottoming out, hasn't happened to me and Im dropped like crazy. It isn't comfortable, although I havent had the stock suspension for so long that I can quite recall how bad it was.

There's no lower or rasing, just a change in dampening, on the bad roads the softer setting really makes a difference, but it wont be anywhere near as compliant as an M5 or M6 on the soft setting.

It's a great car though in every way, but it really isnt enjoyable on NYC streets. Just drive carefully, avoid driving fast in areas where you dont know the roads, and it will be fine. And get a roll cage in the rear so you dont have to make excuses of why then can't fit in the rear

I have had my turbo for about two months, previous car was an M6 so here are your answers:

The M6 was much more comfortable on these awful streets we have. And when I had the M6 I thought it was rough compared to everyone elses car, the turbo is worse, but you will get used to it a bit and it forces you to take it easy a lot.

The back seat in the M6 is larger than in the turbo, you can sort of fit an adult male in the back of the M6, I really wouldn't try it in the back of the turbo although it might be possible.

Even with the sacrifices the turbo is an amazing car but I think the M6 might be better suited for the rough roads if you need to actually put 4 people in it. I would really worry about the tires/ride of the turbo if you had to go over these roads with the weight of 4 people.

back seat is useless outside of small kids / wife in the passenger side with front seat scooted well up. Behind the driver is useless unless your name is Danny DeVitto and drive with the seat all the way forward and up.

^^^^Agree with gmoney 100%. I would not even try and get in my back seat, especially behind the drivers seat.

max distance that is sustainable is about 10-15miles. But best they are short adults that are reasonably thin.

for children - works fine. I drop the kids off at school every day and works well.

Well you said you like to pick up people to go out.. this is another reason to choose thin girls. Big ones wont fit. As for NYC the turbo is going to feel like a great dane inside a rabbit cage.

good luck

IMO the ideal place for a 997tt offers smooth roads, curves, cool dry climate . where hills incline at modest angles , and crowds are minimal . It's best for a person who enjoys taking less people or has a second car .

It's for that reason that even living in South Florida --my 997tt is not a daily driver.

I would rate the experience similar to driving an M5 or an M6 with 20" rims and really low profile tires. If you are ok with that, you'll manage a 997TT in the city.
