Took my 997 Turbo to big Willow Springs

So I took my turbo to big willow yesterday for a track day. I was for the first time assisting with some instruction by doing some lead and follow. Craig Stanton was out there as the lead instructor. I had Craig at the end of the day run a few laps in my turbo to see what he thought about my mods. FYI the mods I have are only ECU and Fabspeed intake and exhaust, the suspension is bone stock. He took my car and threw my friend in the passenger seat. They go out with some stock craftsman race trucks(These were for some perferred clients). He takes a warm up lap and then we start timing him on the next lap. The first lap we got him at a 1;33.2 with some traffic. Lap 2 we got him at 1;32.2 and then after that he pulled in. He brings the car in and says he did not want hurt my tires. He said he drove the car 80%. I told what time he did and he was sure he could take at least another second and half off, maybe even do a 1;29. He was telling me that a few months ago he was doing a drving event for Porsche where he took clients in a stock turbo and was doing 1;34's. I dont know what tests have shown what the turbo has done around willow, but I would think thats pretty darn fast. Also he said the car did 148 mph down the main straight.

I guess it goes to show that the driver makes all the difference. Craig Stanton is known as a top driver especially with Porsche's.

Hard to guage since your car is slightly modded, and he didnt go all out. Intake and exhaust on the 997 TT is good for 550 hp or so. So it's no drop in the bucket. I assume without a passenger he could have gone 1:33 or maybe 1:32 in the stock car.

It does show what a POS that techart car was though. 1:37 is pathetic. But Hubinette did do 1:31-1:32 in the stock 08 Viper and Z06 respectively so compared to Stanton that's not all that bad.

However Millen and his infinite BS are pretty appearant. 1:33 in the GT2 and 1:34 in the Z06 and 1:30 in the ACR, only 1 sec behind the ACR in the GT-R, this guy is aweful. Seems he only excels in driving a GT-R and is average or worse in anything else.

I think that techart car has been rode hard and put up wet.
The 997TT is a wonderful car at the track, with a couple of mods can be unbeatable. The best thing, you just you just put up the windows, crank the AC and have a nice drive home afterwards.
