Leather dome light cover install...with pics

about black leather dome light covers
The pic on the left is a black leather dome light cover I purchased from Suncoast. It has a 996 part number and comes with black stitching. Suncoast indicates that's the only way they come. Although I have been told that if you order ten from Suncoast, one or more will come with gray stitching. ( I did not try this, btw)
The pic on the right is a black leather dome light cover I got at Exclusive Option. It has charcoal stitching that you can actually see. I think I could have gotten it with any color stitching I wanted.
I posted this because of the chatter about covers that came with or without stitching. It apparently goes beyond "if", to "what".

I just posted the same question on 997 forum. I forced them the first time and had some regrets. You're smart to ask.

below might help with the domelight plugs
When the plugs are engaged, the little **** (shown below on the yellow plug) seats in the space indicated on the black recepticle (also shown below). So there are basically two ways to separate them. First, you can pull the plug away from the recepticle at an angle that pulls the **** out of its seated position as you remove it from the recepticle. This is the way I did it in the past. But there's a weak point in the plug where it's divided and in the past I somehow damaged the plug such that I had to secure it in the socket with tape after doing my upgrade.
The second way to separate, and the way I officially suggest, is to slide a very small screwdriver between plug and socket, freeing the contact between the **** and the indention on the receptical AS YOU PULL IT OUT OF THE SOCKET.
This all looks so friggin simple, but it's caused this particular DIYer problems in the past.
