Lets talk tires

What are most of you guys happy with?
I have never been a Pilot sport fan and the came stock on the car. I eat Pzero's, but find them to be the best performing tire.
So what have tried and what are you running. Lets stick to the street for now

I ran PZero Nero's for a while on my tt before switching to PS2's. First of all, the ride quality is softer on the Pirellis than the Michelins. However, the Pirelli's are not as wide as the PS2's even at the same tire size.

At 325/25/20, the Pirelli's sidewall has a stretched look and makes it look like a wheel chair. The PS2's on the other hand has a taller side wall and really makes the wheel look complete.

As for performance, I can't really tell the difference between the two.

I've always loved Michelins for the street on any car. I remember the Pzeros that came with the car were nice, since then I've been running Cup tires all summer and now putting on winters. But if I was running non-Cup tires I would go with PS2 without a doubt.

I had Conti sport contact 2's on my E55, they sucked, I had P ZERO Rossos on my CLK 55, I was very happy with them, my Turbo has PS2 rubber so far I love them.

My two best sellers for 911's are the PS2 and Bridgestone RE050A Pole Position. Following closely are Sport Contact 3 and the Sumitomo HTR Z III. For ultimate dry performance PS2 is still king.

Damon, on a 911 how do the PS2's rate in the wet compared to the RE050A's?

I think the Bridgestone works better in the wet, patterned after there F1 rain tire.

I agree, although I have no recent experience with the Michelin's. The Bridgestone's may be heavier than the Michelin's. When I had an M3 there was approximately a 5 pound difference, which of course is significant, but the Bridgestone SO 3's had better wear. The Bridgestone's were OEM on my turbo and I recently replaced them after 14K miles. I don't expect the current set to get as good mileage, because I have changed to a more aggressive alignment.

To my mind you can't go wrong with either Michelin or Bridgestone.

Hello Damon,

My next experiment is either Pirelli Corsa or Michelin Cup. I figure it's not too expensive and completely reversible so why not. My driving: mostly street, back roads on weekends (higher speed), don't have to drive when it rains. Any comments from anyone please:

1. Will the ride be much worse in Michelin Cup versus the PS2?
2. Will there be noticeable difference in handling/cornering/steering feel between Cup versus PS2?
3. Expected life of cup tires on street?
