This car is incredible...

Don't feel bad. Look at the Ruf RT12...they don't have that stupid zit on the dashboard. Why have a "sport" button when you can program the ECU to be in "sport" mode all the time? <!-- google_ad_section_end -->

[No worries. Like Bob says, you can bypass all that with a good ECU tune. I just thought that if you had the sport chrono and was only getting 13 psi, that would have been an issue. Which ECU did you get?<!-- google_ad_section_end -->]
I ended up going with EVOMSit simply because I was attracted to their switching technology. I want to be able run different octane levels and not have to worry about whether I'm in the right subset of programs for optimal performance.

Sorry for being a noob, but can you explain this a little more? I was under the impression that with the EVO tune you can't switch between differnt octanes, except for if you ask them to program the Sport button to run a higher octane? Is there a module that comes with the EVO tune that will allow you change between different fuel/boost maps?

No apologies necessary! I'm a novice at this too but I'll give you my 2 cents and at the same time reveal my ignorance. Fortunately, there are enough experts here that can correct anything I say that needs correcting. The EVOMSit program does not utilize a hand held module if that's what you mean. It uses knock sensor and switching technology (like stock) to regulate the various maps for octane ranges roughly between 91-100. Your ECU will be tuned depending on the mods you have. There are different tuning parameters for just an ECU tune (keeping everything else stock) versus an ECU tune with an exhaust upgrade, etc... This keeps the engine safe. I also had very good experiences in communicating with the Evom group. Even Todd Z. (the president) took time to answer my sophomoric questions. In all, I felt comfortable entrusting my ingorance (and of course my car) to those who know.

You might want to contact EVOM to get a more technical explanation. My understanding is the knock sensors control the maps. So you're right that that ECU does not know, per se, that you've just put 100 octane in but will detect the higher octane via the knock sensors and adjust accordingly. Maybe there is a slight delay compared to the hand held device which you can directly plug in the octane leve. I don't know. Stephen from IA sold me the upgrade and he is a wealth of knowledge. Basically, these guys are custom tuners and can program whatever they want into your ECU. I don't have a sport button but they can make a car without a button do everything a car with a "button" can do (and more), but as Bob would say, without the "zit" on the dashboard.

I'm on the highway tonight and I'm in 6th, thats right 6th, sport chrono on and I''m doing 80 I nail it, not to the floor but about half way...boost kicks in and I'm gone literally gone, I look down and I'm at 130 within seconds, INCREDIBLE.. thats all I have to say. This car pulls 6th like most sports cars pull 3rd.

Interesting post and answers. Speeds at +80 ( @70 mph posted limit), depending on actual tt-speed can give driver 4-6 points (i.e., up to 90m/h) and >>95m/h can lead to loss of license, jail time and even possible impounding turbo. However, when inquiring earlier about tools police are using more in monitoring such high speeds, that is. laser vs radar (substance that could really save a tt-butt), no comments were made. Again, interesting to see which posts are important and which posts remain wasted bits.

.9 bar seems low for 6th gear... you should be seeing 1.1 or 1.2. It also depends on the climate.
#26
Is the gauge supposed to stay at 1.1 or 1.2 bar for more than a second when the car is at WOT, or does it hit 1.2 bar and immediatly fall back????
#27
Mine holds a steady 1.2 bar all the way up and beyond 160 for as long as I am at WOT and I have a tip(I have never run past the 15 second boost time). I am guessing that yours should be no different in 6th. Changing your diverter valves will improve the hold characteristics. But if you are peaking at .9 bar in 6th that might be a little weak IMO.
When I had a small vacuum leak with my plenum, the boost would spike in final gear at 1.2 but then would settle down at .9 bar within a few seconds and I knew I had an issue.

I think I might have a leak then, I don't think my car is staying at 1.2 bar steady. I don't understand why Porsche couldn't leave the extra power there all the time like the M cars from BMW, sport on means extra power all the time, as opposed to this 15 sec sh*t.... just my .02
