Can they take you to jail for excessive speed?

At what speed can they take you to jail?

I wish that was always true, but on occasion that is not the case.

If you don't believe me, take a look at the 2008 GOL independent testing. Check out the blinder's performance. It's not bad, but not great either.... You're right about the price=performance not always being reliable. The K40 is a perfect example of that

after 3 months of having the car, finally got pulled over.

Hit 120 on a 25 then stopped at a redlight and when i started driving again the cop had caughtup and came on my tail.

Pulls me over, we have some small talk, asks for license and registration then says "slow down" and leaves.

2.5 years and 18k miles in my Turbo and ticket-free, never even stopped. In fact I have never been ticketed or pulled over in my life.

I don't even run with any speed camera detection devices. I find constant paranoia helps to scan for cops and cameras though. Ironically it's when I slow down and go into auto-pilot that I am much more likely to get a ticket from a camera/cop.

I am sure my luck will run out one day though.

Yep, got my first one SIX HOURS into ownership, on the drive back to TX from Colorado. First words from the young kid state trooper: "Is this a Lambo?"

4 months and no ticket... yet...knock on wood!

However, upon leaving the DMV, after picking up my new plates, reg and stickers, I had nothing on the car. Had to turn in the window temp sticker and no tools to install new plate. I told my 86 tear old Mother, who was with me, "you watch, we're gonna get pulled over for no plates within 2 blocks!"
Lo and behold, at 2 blocks, pulling away from a stop sign, I get lit up!
He comes up and I tell him I just came from the DMV and have the new plates, etc.
He said, "that's not why I pulled you over, do you know the speed limit here?". I said 25. He said "I had you in excess of 55".
Now mind you, I had just hit 2nd gear, maybe doing 40? No radar hit.
I turned to my Mother and said "Mom, were we doing 55 mph?" and she says "ABSOLUTELY NOT!!"
At which point, he starts to literally back up, and says, "well...I know this car can go fast, but I also know it can go slow, so try and go slow".
I say yes sir. End of story.

YEAH MOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Several tickets. NONE in the turbo (or my previous M5 for that matter). Always in the wifey mobile (SUV) or my Mini. WTF? At least it would be somewhat worth it if I was speeding in the 'nice' car.

No tickets in the TT yet, got a chicken s**t one for 50 in a 35, 3 months after I got the 997S. I've gotten more tickets in the van or maxima, than the P-cars.

A few months however what I did not know is that since I was under 18 they would send the ticket in the mail to:
"The guardians of (your name here)"

I was in a ton of trouble but learned a few things:

1. When a cop is coming at you very slow on a two lane highway, he might be shooting radar.
2. Out of state tickets do not affect your insurance (at least they used to not affect it)
3. Be the first one to get the mail
