Having problems with my stealership -Vancouver BC

So on last Friday I called MCL Porsche in Vancouver BC and talked to the service guy, Ray regarding putting on my clutch and LWFW for my turbo.
I told him I rather go through him since he was a dealership(stealership)
and but that MBeuros had offered me a rate of 13/hrs and at 80 dollars an hour. He then told me he could "match" it and would like the car brought in on monday. So Monday came around I brought the car in and left him with it, along with a $50 dollar certificate for a steakhouse which I gave to Ray for Xmas but with I lost for a while. I called him later that day to see what was going on and he told me they havent even started with the car yet so tuesday rolls around and I call them and they still havent worked on the car yet again. The next day on Wednesday I call them early when they opened up and asked whats going on. He told me that they are working on the transmission soon. I then ask about the bushings , and they said the bushings are gonna take a while and they do not reccomend them at which I say I want them on but at that point I told Ray I wanted to get the bill printed up because I needed to know what the damage would be with bushings. ( I guess a warning light popped up in my brain for me because why would they not want to put the bushings on?) They told me it was 130/hr at 13 hours. (Not including bushings)
The clutch and flywheel was done at 3pm on Wednesday which means it was impossible for them to charge 13 hours. And on top of that when I complained he said well there nothing they can do they already did the tranny and flywheel and they they want to give the car back and are charging me 13 hours not including the alignment. So now they are making me pay for the bill with the suspension not even done.

When I told him that was not the quote they gave me he said yes it was and that he said he match the labour hours not the rate. That doesnt even make sense to me because originaly I called in to ask the bottom line for the job, not how long it would take to do it. He didnt call me back on wednesday but this morning I got a call from the service manager and he said I better pay for the bill and take my car. I am trying not to take this personal but afraid I have. So basically they are overcharging me for the job quoted, they lied to me on the intial quote, and who else knows what I should be concerned about leaving my car to a bunch of low life thieves. at the stealership. I plan to call 1800PORSCHE but am afraid there nothing they can do...

I've had a few experiences like that at MCL that's why I don't go there anymore. They do have one of the top mechanics there but the service guys, service sucks. They never deliver on time and the car is a mess when it's done. It's hard to find a good place to service your vehicle I find in Vancouver.

Bring it up with the general manager. Tell him about your phone call and what the quoted rate was. Not much else I can think of after that. Aside from giving them negative reviews on the follow up survey.

The GM is just a pea in the same pod.
I'd go to the District Rep.

Dealerships are independantly owned franchises. The District Rep cannot make a dealership do anything in this case.

The best bet is to talk to the GM of the store. Don't be aggressive with him. Just be professional and explain your case. The GM will usually do something to make you feel better about their business.

There are the only real porsche dealer in vancouver. They probably have alot of cars to work on so customer service is not something they care too much about. It's too bad the cost of these cars don't reflect the service from the dealers. I would suggest going elsewhere to service your car.

The best recommendation I can provide when issue like this arise is gather all the facts, date and time. From there, file a complaint at bbb.org. They will send a complaint on your behalf. Companies tend to resolve disputes this way otherwise their reputation will be affected.

If you only got one dealer in the area thats rough, in my experience I found its just easier to work away (depending on the size of the dispute) and never give them return business.

In my case I've only found two shops so far that haven't let me down. Those are the only places I take my car. Both are non dealerships and on the smaller side. And the better one of the two is basically two guys who've been building race porsches for 20+ years.

I talked to them very nicely but they were not helpful. I should have known they 1st quoted me 2500 for the job and thats not including alignment. I shopped around and told them the price other shops were asking but they told me they'd match it. Now they are telling me they are matching the labour whihc is complete BS because the call in the 1st place was the bottom line for the price.

I went to SCAN in North vancouver to get the bushings put on and alignment, they were nice enough to get in the bushings the same day! Seem like good people.

Is that $80 Canadian dollars ? If so that's quite low .
I think the issue is that you were promised A and got B .
It hinges on the concepts of fairness .
But life is never fair and we are usually taught in childhood these concepts by adults who already know what its like to be screwed . To instill hope . It's not reality .

Price wise you are within respectable figures .
This is the way I see it -- 130 -80 = 50
50X 13= 650 .
You are 650 in the red . You could discuss it with them and maybe come to an agreement but if stalemated --

How much do you cherish your car ?
I ask this because in life I feel its best to pick and choose yoir battles and this one is not big enough to make it worth the fight . You will need thse guys in the future .

Use this price error to benefit you . Pay it , let them know that in the future you would prefer a more clear and open line of communication. That's diplomacy .

Good luck.

yrralis1 thanks for the advice and im 650 in the red plus alignment which they promised in the 13 hour job. The service there sucks period im astonished with there incredibly high bills they give me. Good riddance as far as I'm concered.

Yes I know life is never fair but that doesnt mean I foot a bill that I know blantantly is wrong.

I dont think I need those guys in the future not when there purposely stealing my hard earned money. I rather not own a Porsche I would happily move on to another brand.

Good advice though .. I should bring it up to BBB.
