Car care product recommendations
Guys, sorry if this has already been discussed in the past but would appreciate any suggestions on which products (washcloths, detergent, wax, powerhoses, etc.) that you've found to be best for caring for our 997TTs. Thanks in advance.

for drying the sonus microfiber towels (big ones) work wonders, the target yellow ones I find have tons of lint on them show up on the windows - and yes I wash them seperately etc.
Avoid the microfiber specific wash, its crap, I use the free and clear detergent and it works fine.
for wash and wax I use zaino products, happy so far.

+1, and it doesn't smell like crap
Best advice, keep your towels clean!
Keep your bucket clean and get a Boars hair brush.
The boars hair will not scratch and I only own black cars.
Griots offers more crap you don't need, so be smart and start off with the basics:
1. Orbital (saves time, money and worth every penny)
2. Good wax (you should also look into clay bars, only way to get a glass like finish)
3. Good polish, maybe more then one depending on age, paint issues
4. Paint sealers are now sold and can be used instead of wax
5. Brush, bucket
6. Microfiber towels
7. Armourall (still the best)
8. Wheel cleaner, clear coat approved!
9. Glass cleaner (Use this on any 3m clear product after a wash )
I can wash, polish, wax, detail in 1 hour on a 997. It takes me 2 on the A8 and 1.5 on the RS4.
I no longer use 3rd parties for wash as they just ruin my paint. Plus its nice to spend some quality time with the cars and really figure out how bad the paint is.

Very well Put. I follow a very similar process; takes me about an 1 hour to do a nice full detail on the Turbo! I never take my car to the car wash!

For darker colored interiors, it probably isn’t a noticeable problem but for lighter ones, you can really see the dirt/grime. It builds up quickly and easily. In any event, leather does deteriote from environmnetal conditions and for longevity reasons, needs to be preserved. A damp cloth doesn't always do the trick. I've tried Porsche's leather cleaner. It works nicely and I didn't notice an odor. Not suprisingly, it's way overpriced. My wife suggested Coach leather cleaner/preserver. I've seen the before and after results on my college daughter’s white handbag --the stuff is amazing. I'll probably give that a try next.

Thanks, guys. Will take a look at all your suggestions tonight.
Have you guys ever tried that infomercial product called ShamWow? They make that crap look so good I was thinking of buying it for drying but afraid it may just be a sucker ploy.

There's a forum dedicated to this...Moe and Phil are great resources.
You can ask them specifically for a white car, but on a black exterior I use a water deionizer to wash, a cam foam spray cannon to soak, a boar's hair brush to scrub, deionized water to rinse, then a Flex polisher + Menzerna PO85RD with a LC blue/white pad with Glanz Wax to finish.

In the beginning, don't overwhelm yourself with what product is the best. There really isn't "the best" of anything out there. It all comes down to personal preference. Some that like a glossy finish may want a synthetic product to wax with and consider that the best. Other want more depth and richness and use a natural carnauba to wax with and consider that the best.
Take your time, educazte yourself and find out the "look" you're going for for the interior and exterior. Take a look at some detail posted in the detailing section. Here's an example of a new car prep:

This process is a great way to get an idea of the scope of a proper detail.
Once you find out what you like, post your questions on specific products. Remember to keep things simple and focus more on the technique. Most of the recommendations on products here are good ones and we've talked about everything.
When you know what you want, give us the list and we'll help steer you away from the bad stuff
