Has Anyone Raced a 997.2 PDK C4S....

Im just wondering the true difference between a 997.2 PDK S car and the 997 Turbo, meaning, I would love to see the 2 cars in a drag race or similar?. I realize there is quite a difference..by no means am I saying the PDK car would win...and the turbo numbers are MUCH better all around ( I have one on order) Just wondering the difference. I drove the 09 Turbo yesterday and I have the C4S PDK with about 3500 miles on it. The Thing is pretty fast? Just wondering some other professional opinions.
Thanks in advance.

I raced one on a private drive behind a dealership about 2 weeks ago. Stop light to stop light, the PDK launch system is pretty quick, like the GT-R or Gallardo. On a roll, another story.

First run I was surprised, caught up to him and pulled away at about 1/8th of a mile.

Second time, we were even at the launch...I was a little slow between 1-2, then took off and away.

I'm don't drag often. I don't launch well. Other's who are more gifted or veterans of the drag strip wouldn't have any problems with a PDK equipped opponent.

Other thing to remember, it has been in the 30-40F range over the last week. And I'm running on my summer tires already. Hookup and traction were a problem with both cars, but consistency went to the Carrera.

Thats werid results considering the 997.2 PDK was rated at 0-60 in 4.0, and the 997tt is 3.7 (man.)... Not to mention the what 95 hp difference. I'd still rather get the 997tt unless I couldnt handle a 6spd.

It's 30-40 degrees in Wisconsin. It's nearly impossible to deliver consistent launch's with a manual.

What would be more interesting is on a tight track with a lot of gear changes involved. Most people would not be able to extract maximum potential from a manual but with the PDK it becomes a lot easier. Hopefully, PDK will become available on the Turbo soon.

That is what I have on order now! PDK with TURBO. I have wanted that for 2 years.
I literally placed my deposit 2 years ago from research. I know I am first on the list for the 2010. I couldnt wait so my dealer put me into a C4S with PDK and I LOVE IT. I love manual, but the shifting in the PDK is incredible in sport plus it is truly phenomenal. I set up my own mini autocross in a private lot the other day and was truly amazed.

at 60 mph 3 tenths is a close race to the eye but make no mistake, the turbo will pull like a **** 100 mph on up and make the non turbo look silly.

oops forgot to calculate for that. Its getting warmer on the east coast so traction is drastically better.

Also my numbers come from the 1 page review from Car and Drivers most recent edition.

I had two 997S cars . One modded with a Tubi/F77/software . When I test drove the Turbo stock I would say first and second were close but third has the boost going and momentum . A modded Turbo will cream a 997S . It beats a Gt3 in the 1/4 straight line too.

As for PDK vs manual .. short distance .. drivers race . It's really computer vs human more than car Hp .

Regarding the 2010 -- are you sure a PDK Turbo is a definite? I am almost inclined ro guess that with resale being what it is that a Turbo hiatus might be their best route . Who would pay 160+ K for a car when a used obe can be had for 75K by then ? For what 20 Hp ? and PDK ?

good thoughts

these are all very good thoughts. I believe people will always pay for the newest and "quickest." I mean if PDK and DFI can transform the turbo like it did the 997S...it will be worth it...i guess?

PDK will def. transform the turbo but I dont see it in the cards for the '10 model year.

I ve seen couple of real world test,PDK C4S seems little slower than PDK C2S from any speed.C2S can do 0-62mph in about 4.1 sec and C4S did around 4.3-4.4 secs.So you want to race with a manual turbo you better get a PDK C2S to do it.Lighter, more RWHP.

Have gone up against a turbo with my c2s pdk. Me with a passenger and just the driver in the turbo. After the speed bump I got the jump and floored it. Went through gears 1,2,3, and as soon as it shifted to 4th I let off the throttle. Suprisingly he did not pass me, he then told us he was not expecting us to race and did not engage sport mode where it gives you the additional torque. I agreed to race again and this time it was from a rolling start at 40 kms. 3 honks and we both floor it at the same time. I managed to stay ahead in gear 1 think its because of the turbo lag and at around 90kms he is right next to me. As soon as I shifted to 3rd, I must admit he kinda fast walked me away. Does the sport button really make that much difference?
