Porsche goes damn mainstream.....!!!
in the new Autobild theres article about the 5. porsche. it will be a mini-volksporsche under the boxster 2.0 TFSI with 280 hp 4cylinder from the audi. also chassis will be deveplment with audi and VW. price will be around 35000 euro and will start 2013. which is 10000 euro cheaper than the boxster. where is porsche going?
they are destroying theire image !!!. no more sports car manufactor? whats next, a future 911 with vw and audi engine and architekture?. the porsche idiots (sorry but iam really angry about wiedeking) should make what they can. SPORTSCARS!!! in ten years they arent more than BMW or mercedes. they need a model that sitts between the 911 and the Carrera GT. to be comparable with Next gen F430 or next gen lambo-gallardo . also they need a Carrera GT successor for nextgen enzo. ok ferrari is more exclusivity. but porsche has a load of money and they will survive without souch a model. ferrari can too. whats the point???

This just a concept...No one know if it will be put on the production lane.
I ve heard VW or AUDI will make a small coupe based on the boxster/cayman mid-engined chassic and put a 2.0t in.Thats something more trustable.

people *****ed about this same issue when the boxster came out, then again when the cayenne came out, then again when the cayman (****ster?) came out. its tpyical.
imho if cars like this make allow them more $ for the 911 range and for cars like the carrera gt to exist, then god bless
ps ferrari makes the california, so all makers make sacrifices at the altar of profit and expansion
a lighter, cheaper, turboed boxster-like car? who could be against that?

I consider myself a bimmer guy before a porsche guy, and I think the 1series was a great move for BMW. MB has a freaking mini-van. So long as BMW and Porsche stay away from that, I can live with a smaller car/engine option. The economy sucks and people don't have as much cash laying around.

my problem is that audi and vw technique. i want an porsche. for me its like an audi then, you know. just clothed in a porsche design. thats what i dont like. porsche is independet so they should make their own way. oke its good because they save money on that way. but they really shouldnt do that on all models !!!

porsche sold out a long time ago. it's glory years were from 95-98 when they only produced the 911 and the 993 turbo was the best car out there bar none.
the boxster, caymen, cayenne, panamera are all watered down wanna be porsches IMO. carrera GT was the only good move since then.

this kind of whoring ruined porsche for me...I used to hold porsche up there with Ferrari and Lambo as a exotic manufacturer...but now they have sold there soul for profits, and while there are still a great car manufacturer, i think of them in the same light i would BMW and mercedes...great cars...but not exotics (CGT aside).
I truely hope they dont water themselves down even further by making this newest budget version. I really wish Porsche just made a 911 (which came with 911S specs and a convertible option), the GT3's and 2's and a halo car like the 959 or CGT.

Umm, Ferrari is owned by Fiat and Lambo is owned by Audi. Porsche on the other hand has remained PROFITABLE and INDEPENDENT. They have to make these less expensive models to support development on the 911 chassis and build cars like the CGT. It is more likely that this sort of architecture will be sold under the VW/Audi brands though.

I love the "Porsche sold out" comments... Lets go back to when everything was air-cooled and they were on the brink of bancruptcy and then we can sit around and talk about how cool Porsche WAS....
Common, every dollar they make is another dollar they can spend on R&D and continue to build some of the best sports cars in the world. Besides... the 914 was a "Porsche sell-out" car, ever driven a 914-6?... bout' the most fun you can have with your clothes on. I hope they design it, build it and its a hit.

Porsche has majority ownership of VW, and will soon own Audi, which owns Lamborghini. This is a time of consolidation among car manufacturers. Porsche ceased to be completely independent a long time ago. They need to generate revenue - look at how many 911 GT2s are still sitting on dealer's lots! The dealers are getting a 'haircut'.
The F430 looks beautiful, but it can't hold a candle in terms of engineering or practicality to any 911 out there.

PERIOD!!!!!!!!
Porsche almost had to learn the hard way that cool and exclusive doesn't pay the bills. The Cayenne has been a huge freakin hit and I plan on having one soon.
As long as Porsche keeps it real with the GT's and TT, they can sell what they want to IMO. In case you haven't noticed, luxury vehicles are talking lashing right now. The prices are depreciating like crazy. This means that it will be extra hard to sell new luxury vehicles because if you can buy a used 07 TT with low mileage for 80k why in the heck would you buy a new one for 130k????
Pumping out some budget cars with the Porsche badge on it will sell and make sure there are more goodies to play with in the future. But what makes business sense isn't always going to satisfy the enthusiast.

I think it is actually a good move. The more units Porsche can move the more $$ for more R&D to stay on top. As others have said there was a 914 and a 944 produced in the past to extend the client base and those cars are still on the track kicking *** 20-30yrs later. Nothing they put their name on will be a POS
