Dealership Road Test

Dealership Road Test
Just wondering if anyone declines the dealer road test when bringing in your car for service?
The dealership here happens to be a pretty steep incline from the road into the parking lot. Scared the tech might bottom out the front lip ... maybe just paranoid but who knows. You would think they know how low the turbo is but again who knows if the tech driving your car actually gives a toot about your car.
I always decline the complementary car wash ... bad experience with my SUV getting scratched from different dealership.

Yeah good idea, but even if you ask for no one to drive it. how can you be fully sure that someone won't take it out and abuse the crap out of it. I've requested the same, and when I got back into my car (M3) after it was done, it was clearly driven by some gangster punk with someone in the passenger seat. Since the seats were both in the gangster lean back mode (irritated the crap out of me, but what can you do).

So nobody lets their dealer road test their vehicle per the maintance recommendation?
I usually take a picture of the odometer before i drop it off and ask them if they will be driving it.
i'm worried of 2 things:
1. The actually find something wrong with the car on the road test
2. something goes wrong down the road and they deny warranty saying they would've found it if I allowed them to road test the vehicle.

I know the tech that works on my car and trust him to drive it. If I didn't know the tech, I would meet him first. There are times they need to test drive, and if available, will go with them, if not, so be it.
I am more concerned about the people who move the car around the dealership lot.

I trust my dealership 100% and the mechanics are tops.
I dont look at the speedo or care how many miles they drive it.
Porsche of Melbourne is a Premier Dealer and hires stellar people.

We need to test vehicles, especially after large repairs, to verify everything is kosher. Myself or the owner personally test drive our customer's vehicles after repairs. (We an indy) Since we are a small establishment with only a few on staff I trust everyone that works for me to drive our vehicles and they all have wheel time with exotics and/or speciality vehicles.

I agree. I trust my dealer and I love the care they give the car when they wash it. If a good porsche dealer does not know how to wash a 150k car with known very finickey owners then no one does. If people trust their dealers that little IMHO they need a new dealer

I agree. I've known the Tech for 15 years and I try to bring him a bottle of single malt or something when I drop off the car (Ray @ Len Stoler in Baltimore). For interval work I go to FarnbacherLoles and have no issue if they want to drive it. My 997TT is probably the biggest POS in their shop.
