air intake upgrade; worth it?
hello 6speeders
thinking of upgrading OEM air intake system; looking into Werks1 system. recent threads have advised against it; stating that OEM system are sufficient. Fabspeed and others (Werks1) have demonstrated that the OEM system is inefficient in that airflow is disturb thus affecting engine response. their systems enable intake air to flow undisturb resulting in better throttle response. their systems claim a 15hp bump in performance i would not mind the esthetic improvements in the engine bay. Werks1 look cool is the cost worth it? (besides looks)
any thoughts;seeking advise

I first use BMC with stock box, then want something noiser I bought a fab maxflow. Then I found it too hot..all the air it sucked in are way hotter than bmc+box. As I live in south part of the earth and now it is summer here so I swaped back to bmc+box...
AGENCYPOWER's new pod+box is great to go.fully sealed box, should be real cold.

hi yrralis1
it does look beautiful! leaning towards the Werks1 system. do you believe it improves air flow as opposed to the OEM system. have you noticed quicker throttle response? is it worth the $$? it looks so clean and integrated almost OEM; a shame porsche didn't think of it

I definitely think air flow is improved . They even have to cut a second hole to increase it. Understand that in my case I added the werks 1 with several other mods so I can't attribute the gain to one specific part .
There are cheaper airboxes and one might wonder if a carbon fiber box costing thosands is really needed . I say hell yeah it is !!!!

Stock has only one . They had to cut a second opening . The same was the case with the F77 on the 997S . I had that airbox too.

I just put the Agency box and love the look of it ,not as nice as the Works one but much cheaper form Vivid.I also had exhaust installed at the same time so also hard to tell how much it helped but there very noticeable gains.

i'm confused; doesn't tt have 2 snorkel openings? is one a "dummy"? rt or lft? the snorkels are removed with Werks? the vivid system snorkels stay in place; fits as OEM. did u ever have any "air leak" issue with Werks since snorkels are removed; does it fit flush with decklid? dealer have to cut into decklid for 2nd opening; Werks provide template? pleases respond thanx

I don;t recall if it was a dummy opening but I do know it needed surgery. The werks was one of my first mods placed on my car with less than 200 miles and that was almost 2 years ago .
Edit . I may be confusing the 997S a bit which also had the F77 . It's hard to keep up with mod events from two and three years ago.
