Red face Dyno's in 3rd or 4th gear

I need help understanding how dynoing in different gears effects the dyno data. Specifically 3rd vs 4th. Is there a best gear for getting the most accurate data? Will one gear show more hp or torque over another?
Please educate me.

Not an expert here, but many dynos are done in 4th gear. I believe because the car does not achieve max boost until the higher gears.

Most dyno runs are done in 4th gear. The reason is because in *most* cars, 4th gear provides the closest 1:1 drivetrain ratio between the wheels and the crank.

That's obviously over-simplifying it just a little, but that's the basic idea. Doing a pull in 3rd gear sometimes makes sense, depending on the transmission and the particular car, however in 3rd gear you have to be carefull how you accelerate the car because you don't want to "spike" the dyno. In other words, you don't want the dyno to think more power is being put down because the wheels are accelerating at an inconsistent pace.

I'm sure there's someone out there who can give a more detailed explanation or correct me if I'm wrong. Hopefully this helps.
