60-130 run question..

60-130 run question..
Finally got myself a performance box from vivid
Had couple of run last night on a local quiet airport road..I was confused by the numbers. My car is EVT700 setup(extra is IPD and cat-less) manual with stage 3 clutch,93 octane.
I didnt do launch so I start the box timing from 30mph.
Heres the best number I get from the runs
30-100mph : 6.1 secs
60-100mph:3.7 secs
60-120mph: 6.2 secs
60-130mph:8.2 secs
I can't figure out how come it take 2 full secs to get 130 from 120..Compare to other peoples testing data my time til 120mph seems normal but too slow to 130mph..
I have view the files in computer, the road a slightly going uphill from 43m-57m during the run and I don't know if I am facing wind or backing wind.but there is windy out there..
The 120mph-130mph from the run is between 6000rpm-7000rpm duing 4th gear.I ended the run after redline cut in 4th gear.I didn't change to 5th because that will waste more time other than just keep it to redline??
Any pros please help me figure out...

The technique I use (Iam not holding myself up as an expert) is to start in third gear about 2500 rpm and punch it. Run it to the redline, but not the limiter, and shift as quickly as I can to fourth. Then simply ride her to the limiter (which on your set-up is 7000-7200 rpm). I usually turn PSM off during the run. My second or third run is usually the fastest. If you have stock ICs your first or maybe second run will likely be the fastest with heat soak setting quickly after that. I have a 996TT with EVOMS GT660. Here is a verified run at 7.2s. As you can see my shift could be better. As you can see my car went 120-130 in roughly 1.4s so your car should be better than that.
What were the other conditions at your run ie temp, humidity, altitude, and barometric pressure? What octane are you running? These can have a profound effect on the performance on any given day.
Keep trying and Iam sure your times will improve. You should post your graph so others will have something more tangible to comment on.

If you are concerned about wind try the run the opposite direction on the same road if possible. If not try again when not windy.

It is early winter here in New zealand so the temp. might be not a problem.I only used 93 octane without sport model for this run.

1. Punch it in 3rd at 3000
2. Punch it in 3rd at 2000
3. Start in 1st gear from stop and shift at red line and go up through the gears
TIA

That 2 sec interval does seem slow. What octane gas , what type of exhaust , intake and plenum too (i think the new EVT does not have them-not sure ) any weight reduction ,where are you shifting in 3rd , and climate for the run. Also are you rolling from 60 with momentum or at a leisure 60 before hitting the pedal.

Thanks for the interesting info (I'm a noob). I've always wondered if there is a "best" way to do this. So if I do any of the following 3, the 60-130 time will all be different?
1. Punch it in 3rd at 3000
2. Punch it in 3rd at 2000
3. Start in 1st gear from stop and shift at red line and go up through the gears
TIA

2. Punch it in 3rd at 2000
3. Start in 1st gear from stop and shift at red line and go up through the gears
TIA
So as far as your question, the best option is #2 followed closely by #1 and lastly by a significant margin #3.

My times in my 996TT were always faster with 2-shifts. My Z06 was also faster with 2-shifts when it was stock, but seems to be faster with 1-shift now (which may change when I get my new tranny and diff). It all depends on the car and the way it makes it's power.
As far as your 2-second 120-130 time, that is about a half second slower than it should be for a car running low 8's. It's almost as if you let out. If you send me the raw .dbn file, I may be able to figure out what went wrong. divexxtreme@hotmail.com

Mike,
I had stock gears, but a higher redline. I tried both, and always ended up getting better times with 2-shifts than with 1. The boost of acceleration I would get by staying in 2nd outweighed the extra time it took to do a 2nd shift....since my car made the majority of it's power past 5k rpm.
I would have thought my Z06 would have been quicker with nly 1 shift when stock (due to the great N/A tq curve), but my 2-shifts times were always quicker with it as well.
It varies from car to car, but I would agree with you....that overall, most cars will be quicker with 1-shift than with 2.

Mike & Scott,
Thanks for the good info. Scott, very nice acceleration data you keep there on the 996 Turbo forum. (Anyone who doesn't know, might want to take a look for fun: https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...standings.html .)

Tried again tonight..Very good weather,no wind no wet.temperature is around 50F only.
I had the best time tonight by 7.73 secs on the same road..After listen to MBailey's advice to start from 3rd gear -2000rpm.Very helpful thanks..
Here is the run-file..It still seems slow for evt700.I guess I really should change another road to test this because this road is almost 5% uphill and I can only run on this uphill side..Also it not leveled well..Bit bumpy as well..Will that slow down my time badly?Or still something to improve on shift from 3rd to 4th?The gas still 93 octane.
Best times tonight:
60-70 : 0.70
70-80 : 1.49
80-90 : 2.33
90-100: 3.80
100-110:4.97
110-120:6.20
120-130:7.73
