I was in the same dilema. I owned a 2007 997tt and really enjoyed the car, although, it did feel a bit sterile. I, like you, thought that the GT3 should retain a little better residual; history has shown us that. Anyway, with the additional torque of the 2010 GT3 and everything else, the high revs, sound, handling, etc... that comes with this awesome car, I chose the GT3 over the 2010 turbo. No wrong choice here -as others have stated- but the GT3 should be a bit cheaper to own which is frosting to me.

I had a 6GT3, now a modded Turbo CAB as I wanted a convertible but if I were to do it all over now, I'd go for the '10 GT3.

I see some of you are/were in the same position as me (Turbo vs GT3).

Right now (after doing a lot of thinking) I am thinking the Turbo, only because I am planning on getting a 360 Spider. The reason why the 360 Spider would cause me to get the Turbo is because the 360 Spider is a very unusable car, a car to used on special occasions and very rarely, a car thats loud (in a good way), and a real enjoyment to drive. The GT3 has very similar traits mainly the fact that it is very unusable. So do I want two very unusable cars that are driven rarely? The Turbo on the other hand is very usable and would be driven a lot. I think it would be nice to have a special occasion exotic car, and then more of a usable, but still fun sports car.

So then there are two ways I could have my collection setup:

1. A special rare, special occasion enjoyment car and a usable fast coupe to substitute my daily driver once in a while

or

2. Two very special rare cars that please me in different ways: One, a race car feel, coupe, 6-Speed, another luxurious, beige leather, F1 tranny, beautiful, exotic, convertible.

Which would you pick?

Just want I am currently thinking.

But do you think the Turbo is too much of an everyday driver? As this car would not be an everyday driver, I would not want it to possess that trait.

John

I don't think the 997.2 GT3 can beat the stock turbo on straight lane still..Big different in torque to fix the weight different.
who drives a straight line~!!!!!!! lmao

Gt3 vs turbo!!

, If you like the track a lot!!, then go with a gt3. But if you want the best power output with some style then turbo. Not saying anything bad about either I have just driven many of these P cars day in and day out due to working on them for so long.

The GT3 is a much more usable street daily driver than any Ferrari I have ever driven. It seems as if there is a great deal of speculation on this thread versus folks with actual experience driving these cars.

In the final analysis it does not matter that much, as Porsche will become a division of VW and and will be sold at VW dealerships...But that will also help with the EPA regulations across the VW model range.

I have a 997tt.. Imo, the only shortfalls as compared to GT3 is the weight and the beautiful NA engine tone that i miss. You can sure make a turbo handle like a GT3 or even better i believe. And you wont be able to get the same kind of adrenaline on a GT3. One is a turbo the other is NA.. no comparison.

What matters most to me, is the process of modding and each time you put something new you feel satisfied. Its very street drivable still.

On the track, with proper set up (tyres, brakes, aggressive alignment) i see no reason a turbo could lose to GT3, given the same driver.

My previous GT3 kills my turbo on the track. Really, the GT3 is a much better track car- weight, suspension, no lag, RWD, etc.

Having said that, I love my turbo. A great daily driver with more usable power on the street.

Two different beasts, but i agree with WTT997. Add coilovers, sways, track alignment and r-compount tyres, and the advantage of the GT3 around corners will be minimal.
