Well, okay, but even the 600hp kit is $44k. Are people really buying into this ? Its just uncomprehending, if i handed a 07 997tt and $40k to one of our quality race sponsors here, i would have one amazing complete package system with interior safety to exterior, from brakes to engine, and more ...

I agree with you...the price is staggering for simply upgraded VTGs, exhaust, ECU, and clutch.

I believe its totally overpriced. If you do an ECU-exhaust mod from any tuner, American or European you will pretty much get same results. So again any kit from any tuner with modified VTGs will be at the same league.
Its obvious that European tuners are usually more expensive than Americans but RUF its a total no buy option (price wise) !
The only thing that confuses in case of power is that each one translates power in different units.
Whatever the case i believe that American 700kits are more powerful and more worth it.

Not to start a tuner flame war, but I am not convinced this is true. If you have data to back this up, please post it...I would be interested in seeing pbox numbers or videos. But after independent runs over the last few weeks, I found the results to be different.

Remind me the 997guru FVD topic earlier this year.He claimed his FVD stage3 620HP kit running similer 60-130 time as US tuner's 700hp kit.but not sure why his run didnt approved finally..
Just did a search.
His time been approve by teamspeed forum,I can see it on the board:
" 6.73 - Salihbjk / 997TT FVD Stage 3 "
http://www.teamspeed.com/forums/997-...-186-300k.html
Here's guru's topic about his car :
http://www.teamspeed.com/forums/997-...ed-997-tt.html
So I think I have to believe then..At least by now my 700us cant get that time,I have VBOX,will figure out all the possible problems in my car and fill race gas ,find a 2%-3% decrease road and have the final try..

Ye,but thats RUF..An independent porsche tuner..They gotta a fantastic histroy, full with good sounds of honours, crowns.Own making brand registed(you can get an RT12 and reg as "RUF RT12",not a porsche anymore,None other tuners can do that).

I am very interested in this thread. One thing that struck me, was how much longer it took Ruf to come out with the upgrades for the 997. They have tremendous resources, and experience. So why did it take them a year plus longer than everyone else. I hope thta means they are testing more and creating a better product. I want a 550-600 hp engine, but I want Porsche quality tuning. No CEL's, no issues, period. I am leaning towards Ruf, but I also am watching all the threads regardinf Sharwerks/Switzer/etc,

What exactly are you trying to compare it to? I thought the point was to compare a US tuned 997TT to a RT-12 motor that costs $120k?
