Clean power supply ?? Pls help.

I have installed a Escort Passport 9500ci. Everything is fine , but when i go over 3000 rpm, I can hear a light but disturbing high pitch hum from the escort speaker. I spoke with Porsche and they said I need a clean power supply, and they are willing to do the rewiring; it takes a couple of hours!? I did wire the (+) to a spare fuse socket and (-) near the fuse box. Where can I get this "clean" power from?

Any ideas?

Strange, I just hard wired my V1 the other day and did the same thing, to a vacant fuse slot, no issues. I used a 10 amp fuse and also used the 'add a connect' copper thingies from Radio Shack to connect the positive neatly. Ive seen some guys simply twist wire around the fuse blade and stick it in!

I grounded at the bolt near the fuse box (remove that entire panel to see it) after I stripped the wire and added a wider horseshoe shaped spade (dont know the technical name) to make a more secure connection to the ground.

I would check the ground, and which spare fuse location did you use?

I had the same problem with my 9500ci and my car audio guy found that moving the speaker away from the dash area eliminated the noise.

We first tried different power points in the fuse box to no avail.

I had it put under the driver's seat, facing forward and it solved the "whine" issue but I wanted it to be louder when listening to loud music so I was going to have it mounted next to the drivers seat on the door side, facing up.

Now that I'm having a stereo system created and installed my guy is using the top dash speaker (that wont be used for music anymore) and is mounting the electronics under the "wart" lap timer that's on the top of the 997's with the "Sport Plus" package. He doesn't think it will cause a whine because it's on top, but if it does he'll move the electronics part somewhere else or we'll figure something else out - maybe next to the driver's seat as I was going to do.

The top, center dash speaker is of a higher impedance than the 9500ci's external speaker so it will be louder as well.
