How do those tyres compare...

Anyone tried RE11 yet ???

How do they compare to 888s ???


Need to use car for everyday driving on 800+HP 997 TT...and it must hook up well when I will race over weekends )))

 

R888s very sticky but noisy. Pilot Cups work great as well but longevity isn't a strong suit.

 

The re11s should be fine.

 

Tried all three, MPSC, R888s, and the RE-11s (Current)

The R888s are very noisy, the MPSC are very expensive, great tires, but they also last half as long.

The RE-11 are great. Very communicative on the road, very quiet for everyday driving, and great on the track. Just got back from two days with NNJR-PCA at NJMP Thunderbolt and the tires were great, same performance as MPSC and with great tire wear.

Im sticking with the RE-11s no questions, cant find a single negative to them yet.

I havent test them in heavy rain, but the MPSC and R888s were nothing to brag about in the rain anyway so I can't see the RE-11s being any worse.

I'm going with RE11's after this weekend at Pocono, the cups will be done. The only downside to the RE11s are the added wt compared to cups. RE11s are about 1100 a set while cups are 1700+, man that gets old fast!

 

What is added WT )))???

So you guys says RE11 are best alternative on the market right now ???

The R888s, MPSC, and the RE-11's are all comparable in terms of stickiness. Most of that will depend on temperatures, pressures, and the road surface.

I went with the RE-11s because they are:
1) Considerably cheaper per set ($700)
2) No loud road noise (R888 = horrible)
3) Looks to be a decent tread to prevent aqua planing
4) Looks to be a strong sidewall and after 5 days at thunderbolt - a track thats punishing for tires, they are holding up strong, so you can definitely get some DEs on these
5) Good amount of tread (MPSC look practically bald brand new)

 

Is it for drag use?? (RE11)

 

raiyu, I'm on my first set of track tires now: the R888's. True they are a little noisy to and from the track but they have tons of grip. Do you recall what pressures you ran in them? It seems that 34/35 HOT is a good zone.

 

Around the same, I usually try to stay below 35 on the rear because it feels a little greasy so I bleed them to about 31/33, same for the RE-11s.

Play around to see what feels best and then just check your tread wear after each session. This way if something doesnt look right you catch it early before you've destroyed a set of tires.

Also gotta take into account the weight of the car etc, so 34/35 may work better for you than it does for me.
