Get the GT2.
You can make a GT2 lighter and put even better tires on it to make it handles as sharp as a GT3. The best of all, you can always chip it to make huge power gains later if you want to.

The new GT3 is a well balanced sports car for the money, but it is hard to make more power out of that engine.

Both cars are excellent choices for track days, but one more excuse for you to get the GT2:
Get the GT2 now, and wait for the new GT3 RS.

I agree.
You will buy the GT3 and then spend 15K to mod it but it will still not be a GT2 or drive like a GT2 nt to mention that resale value on that GT3 will decrease with all these mods as people are going to automatically assume that you tracked it or why even buy it? honestly if money is not an option go for the GT2 because at the rate sales are going, your GT3 will be 30k less in value next year as well where the GT2 will hold very well in the WORLD market.

Good luck with your purchase.

GT3 hands down; might not have the top end, but that SOUND. nothing in the porsche line like it. there is something to be said for that naturally aspirated exhaust note. simply exhilarating! good luck

I just bought a 1k mile 2008 GT2 at a great price and put the Switzer L4 700/750 kit on it. So you know my vote. Good luck!

Its really up to what you're looking for. Both can run with the best, but the GT2 can pass them like they're standing still on normal roads.

if you are going to mod the GT3 and spend an extra $10K - $15K, then the difference is not too big. i think the GT2 is a better track car and value overall. plus, if you ever get bored, you can bump the power signifcantly on the GT2. i guarantee the 997 GT2 is quicker than your 996 GT2 if it is stock. the new 997 GT2 is just so much more refined that you don't realize how fast you are going. i have been doing some track days in my 997 GT2 (with the Switzer 800 HP kit) and it is just the most fun i have ever had on a track!

Now, that would be a great price. I paid somewhat less than the price you posted, but the car you are looking at has a higher MSRP.

Crazy offer FTW. But remember, don't be influenced by a great deal to make your decision between the two cars. If the GT3 suits you better, go with that one (and vice versa). The sweet deal will just be icing on the cake.

Picked the GT2.. it's a great car, you will be very happy with it...crazy fast

Can't think of a car I would give my GT2 up for, best dual purpose car sold!
