Porsche unveils facelifted 2010 Turbo!

Just to clarify, the M97A91 block uses "integrated dry-sump" for its oil supply. The oil reservoir is located inside the engine, not externally the engine it replaces. Four oil pumps remove the oil from the cylinder heads directly into the oil sump, with an additional pump in the oil sump directly supplying oil to the engine. An electronically controlled oil pump supplies oil when it is required. This means that the oil pump does not work so hard when there is less demand. The benefits of this "on-demand" system supposedly increased fuel efficiency and lower exhaust emissions.
what does "integrated dry" mean. is that Clinton speak for "wet"

I can't imagine Porsche changing the GT3 until the 991 GT3 comes out as a MY2013 in 2012.

As bbywu explained, there is stiil a dedicated separate oil reservoir now contained within the engine case rather than outside the engine case. This in and of itself is no worse than a traditional dry sump, imo. So, it still has the benefits of a traditional dry sump.

I for one am not impressed with the devolution of the turbo. Sure it has some new gadgets, but it's sole is gone. They should be congratulated for making a more efficient/greener, cheaper engine but that's about all. If they lowered the price by 25k(what they're saving with the consumer grade engine), then I would be more excited.
Sorry porsche, I'll have to pass. GT3 guys; don't get too psyched, you're next for the 9A1 in 2011.
The aftermarket has to be loving those p40 style wheels and the standard ipod interphase, about all you can do is an exhaust I'll bet. Any ecu tweeks will probably be difficult and ill advised.
Off my soapbox. The king is dead, long live the king.

so it is "wet" sump then not "dry sump"? 458 italia is definitely "dry" sump (traditional "race" definition)

The 997.1 Carreras are a wet sump. .2's are integrated and 997.1 turbos, GT2's and GT3's are dry sump.
Yes, the 458 is a traditional dry sump, traditional race set up.

Oh no, just realised something, if the PDK in the new TT has problems with the extra added power, the GT-R guys are going to have a field day. (And rightfully so)
Lets not forget how the Porsche community has grilled them for having a "Glass Geared Tranny". If the new TT starts breaking gears, there will be epic flame wars.

Hey, I just saw you own a vintage Kawasaki Z1R turbo with Molly paint. I owned a 1978 Z1R and always lusted after the turbo. What a great ground breaking bike.
I crashed mine t-boning a car but was able to have it repaired like new. I owned it for a number of years then sold it to a friend. My friend still owns it. I loved to buy it back. Geez, that bike brings back memories.
The CBX is the six cylinder, right?

911DEV,
Yes the CBX is the 6 cyl, I had it many years all stock, The Z1R TC is like new also.
I still do not understand how the new TT is $25K more than the current one as people are stating as a current base is around high $120's, or have I missed something?

That was in Euros not USD.

Click on the link on the very first post on this thread, play the video and listen to the pricing details... that's what i did, i am not sure how true this is.

The previous base (MY2009) was $130,000. The 2010 turbo is $2,800 more base price. I can only guess that somehow some people are confusing the higher Cab price as the base price of the coupe.

I think Porsche should declare how much hp can go through the PDK. Otherwise, the flame wars is on with the GTRs. I really like this, just as I wanted to get a GT3, this comes along, but I think this time the 3 takes it...
