MY 2010 Turbo Order Guide released

Interesting commentary in beginning of description of vehicle:

DRY SUMP WITH EXTERNAL OIL TANK

Misprint, perhaps? Or tricks?

DaveC is infamous around these parts
Boilerplate from previous guides that found its way into current. There's still Tiptronic options mentioned in other guides instead of PDK.

Thanks for the post, looks like only change from '07-09 will be the 20 hp (3.8cc), a touch screen nav and the $132K price. Bet trading difference will be a bunch, hardly worth the 20hp. Thought these turbos hold their value, but that probably is only the case to private buyers.

I hear the PDK is not ready for 2010. Anyone have what the truth is about this auto/manual transmission in turbos for '10??

More changes than that (improved suspension, AWD system, 20 lb/ft of torque, standard) however, you have to pay extra for most, or the rest, of them. The must haves, imo: Sport Adaptives, SC w/PADM, CL Wheels and PTV w/LSD (Torque Vectoring) and you add almost $11,000 to the price without any interior touches. PDK would be a strong consideration for a turbo for me, much moreso than a C2S, so add another $4,500 for that. The coupes are easily in the low $150s w/PDK without getting crazy. Porsche also increased the price of the special paints. With turbos you get metallics free and upcharge special colors were discounted the price of the metallic and were priced at $2,300 or so. Not anymore, they're now $3,100 like every other 911 variant.

Makes the .2 GT3 seem like a bargain. 2010 well equipped GT3 w/Full Leather, PADM, some nice interior touches and you're about $120K, with historically better residuals.

Anyway, 996 and 997 turbos have, for the most part, the worse residuals of the 911 line up, imo.

So no Thicker Steering wheel (XPA) for 2010 Turbo ? I did not see it in the guide , other than an alcantara thicker wheel . Sucks.

Looks like they want to sell less cars for more money. The engines cheaper and the avg sticker price is going to shoot up thus more $$ for Porsche / VW.

They are selling fewer cars, and no longer building them without a deposit!
If a premier Pcar dealership selects to order a car for their inventory, it will probably not be a Turbo. The days of walking in and walking out with keys are over. I see this as a positive for everyone, residuals will flatten, cars will not sit on lots and buyers will have to make a decision and own up.

The entire world understands the new motor was a move for financial reasons in a down economy. The Cayenne D seems to far more important to Porsche.

The big question and the most important question is just how many people will jump to a 2010 for what most consider to be less car for more money. I know a couple 60+ year olds happy with their tip and can't seem to understand what PDK is

Sucks indeed. I'm hoping it's a typo.

On pricing, yes, it's stupid money even now....with cheaper engine costs they ran the price up. I built two Turbo Cabs the other night using the guide, and they came in around the 170's. No freaking way. Even if a dealer was willing to cut some slack, it's just not worth it. What are they thinking?
