What is to be gained knowledge wise from someone starting a tip vs 6sp thread every 3 weeks and then the same group of super studs replying to it???? I am just awestruck by the ignorance shown in some of the posts. It is apparent that there is actually some truth to Porsche owners thinking they are better than other folks....because of the car you drive....incredible.
well said....obviously, porsche made tips and people bought them. Enough said. To each his own.

cdragos is infamous around these parts
I used to own a 996 turbo manual. And I was dreaming at a tiptronic gearbox. After selling it I bought an M6 with a robotised 7 gearbox(for the purpose of this discusion can be considered an automatic). And I sold it after 6 months because I found that the driving experience is not as involving as on a manual.

I had the same feeling about the DPK.. Pay all that money for a turbo for such a transmission and then be unhappy. I guess if all you wanted to do was street-race all day, it would be great, but for all around driving involvement, I can't believe these auto-manuals even come close to manual-manuals. So you hit an occasional rev-limiter in first. Trading back would with porsche would prove a very high cost lesson.
