DME Scan -- Need advice

Yes, and they should be providing it, or at least receipts and invoices from service. At a minimum, they should provide you with the service booklet that comes with the car, showing proper servicing (and it doesn't have to be done at a dealership.)
If they are not willing to provide you with this, I would reconsider.

Thanks alot! Really apperciate your help!
I am going to call them tomorrow and see what they say about service.
I guess there not much to be worried about the over revs?

That's an opinion. There are so many 997TTs out there at very good prices. You could probably find one with no over revs at all equipped the way you like it. But will take time and work.
Do I believe that 0.009 seconds in range 4 is a problem. Only if it occurred during the break in.

Service work
Porsche doesn't keep a national data base on service work. Warranty work would be available to anyone. For what it is worth there may not have been any service due on the car yet anyway. 2yr 20K is the service on a 2007 I think, Oil change recommended by most service departments once a year or 10K.
That brief amount of Range 4 would not concern me at all. I have seen Porsche cover many engines that had range 5 and a lot more range 4 ignitions than that. If you like the car and the price is right. Hope on board

While I agree with you, I believe that all high end vehicles available as a secondary sale should have a collection of receipts, service records, and a logbook should be part of any sale. His dealership should be offering these records for him to review. Failure to have these records simply results in hear-say reporting of whether or not service was done. While the 2007s did not have a recommended service interval until 20K, I'd find it hard to believe that an 07 has not made it to a dealership at all.
He is welcome to provide me with the vin number and I will look it up for him, his sales person should have easy access to the warranty history.

Thanks for the help guys!
My only worry is that I spend 120k on a car (when the car is imported with taxes duty paid) and the car breaks down due to over rev in the future. Then i will probably have warranty issues too. There's no way to prove that there was no damage done from the over rev; it all depends on if i want to risk it or not which i am not fully prepared yet.
Here is the VIN : WP0AD29957S784809
Thanks again guys!

Get a 3rd party Porsche dealer to run the warranty history, and do your best to get the service history (that may be non-warranty repair work).

I ran the vin for you. The original in service date is 2/26/07 that would be your warranty start date. There have been two warranty claims. On 12/08 with 3,624 miles the horn was replaced at that time the Turbo Workshop Campaign was completed. 6/30/09 4,700 miles the oil cooler had been removed, cleaned and reinstalled. All this work was completed by Byers Imports in Columbus, OH. I would suggest calling them and more than likely your service questions can be answered from there. They are the original dealership and seemed to have been the service point.
It does seem to be a nice car and it does have a fairly rare option of the Rear Locking Diff. My guess is this car is not at a Porsche Dealership is it? If it is you need to ask them why it has not been CPO'ed. This would also explain why your dealership hasn't been able to give you any service information.
Good luck. I hope this info helps. If this car is at a Porsche dealership I would place a red flag on it(Why has it not been CPO inspected), if its at another type of dealership, I see no reason for you to worry about it. Just spend the money on a PPI.

Thanks alot man!!
Looks like there were no major warranty claims; really good see.
I like all the options on the car as well as the color. The car is at a porsche dealer; they told me that i can get cpo warranty before they showed me the DME scan. Now, i don't know what they will say.
Thanks again!

Your welcome anything I can do to help.
The over revs you stated wouldn't keep the vehicle from being covered under the CPO program. There really is very little to be worried about with such a small amount of over revs. Remember those are ignitions not secs.
I'm only wondering why they didn't already do the CPO inspection on the car and if they have they haven't reported it to PCNA. Ask your sales person to send you the CPO inspection report. If they have a scanner they should be able to do that for you. Good luck

Can someone explain exactly how to read the DME readouts mentioned in the first post of this thread? I'm totally new to the porsche scene and in the process of purchasing one. I would greatly appreciate any help. I dont mean to thread jack so my apologies to OP. Thanks!
