Early skyline GTRs weren't imported to the US because Cali is filled by a bunch of [........]. Despite that people still struggled to try import them. Don't see them doing that for a Porsche if things were reversed.
I saw your original post before it was edited. Nice touch with all the racial/sexual slurs. Didn't know you had to be a "very red neck" blockhead to own a GTR. Guess I'll stay with the Porsche crowd for now.
You still can't admit that Porsche is the benchmark not only for GTR's but many automakers who want to add a sports car to their Sentra and Altima product lines. Go back to your own forum.

So true, the 959 is the benchmark for every supercar that has come after it. Every major car mag has said so.

Sold my 996TT and my daily and purchased a E92 M3 - since I can't afford a 997TT right now. Maybe a GTR fanboi should tell me I got ripped off for buying my M3 when I could of purchased a GTR?
I had both. And yes you did get ripped off. But only in terms of performance. For comfort, picking up friends, going out, parking, class and with just enough aggressive styling (AW/carbon roof and thedark 18's) to be set itself apart from the sea of 3 series, the M3 is a great car. I bought the GTR thinking it can do everything. After 3 months of using it as a daily driver, the harsh ride, the parking attendants in the city waiting for my arrival, poor visibility and it's sheer size and clunkyness around town made me look for another option so I leased an E92 M3. Both you and I know the performance of the M3 is sub par for the price. Steering is way too vaque. Throttle response anywhere below 6k is poor (M mode or not). Brakes fade after 4 laps regardless of track, etc etc. Where the GTR shines is steering feel, sharp, you know where the front tires are, very Evo like. Super strong brakes, AWD with a LSD in the transaxle and two drive shafts explains how well this thing puts it's power down so well. Insane DSG so yes the M cannot compare. But I realized very quickly that I will never use all that unless it's the once every two months i'm at a race track. I'm looking at the new 911 turbo now. It's what I should have gotten in the first place instead of these two. oh well

hmmm, don't know about that. not to stray too far off topic but the F40 gets much more notice as the iconic late 80s/early 90s supercar. mags like evo, car, etc still benchmark modern supercars against it for pure, visceral driving experience. you don't read too much about the 959. funnily enough, in it's day, the 959 got some of the same criticism the GTR now gets. too much technology for it's own sake diluting the driving experience. a little too anesthesized. Mac F1 owns all anyway

That's what I meant, all the technology and drivers aids were pioneered on the 959. It had supercar performance but it was docile enought to take it to the minute market to pick up eggs. They called it the most advanced car ever constructed. Funny thing is, the Porsche folk did not like it for that very reason. They felt it was souless, and removed the driver from the driving experience. Much the same thing they say about the GTR.

If it only had a manual. Porsche understands this and offers both which is HUGE for people like us.

Porsche indeed does understand that, but the Panamera Turbo is the first car (note the word 'car', not 'SUV') they've made where they took that option away from us.

I'm very distraught that people have seen fit to castigate the venerable Beetle. The Beetle is living proof of just what socialism can achieve and it is to Porsche's credit that they built an entire range of sports cars eminating from this beacon of engineering.

Why banned BD for? He is the only reason I visit this thread every morning to have a good laugh. It is now oh so boring without him. All I see now are Porsche guys patting themselves on each others backs trying to reassure each other that the new 911 turbo is faster and better than the GTR..

Exactly, anyone who deviates from this behavior is a "troll"

Porsche's ace driver Walter Rohl claims that the new turbo can do the 'ring' in 7:31. When asked about the GTR's ring time, Rohl laughed and dismissed the 7:26 set by Nissan as "impossible for a car with that power to weight ratio"

Its a miracle the GTR ever beats the 997.2 Turbo on any track.
