EVT900 Clubsport- Part 3 - Dyno tests - 3.8L GT35's Full Engine Build - TIPTRONIC

I am curious as to what you are referring to when you say turbo zone?Do you mean launching with a certain amount of boost? If this is what you are referring to could you explain how you know this and maybe share your experiences with large turbos and the tiptronic transmission on a similar build that maybe you or SPI has done? Most 6 speed equipped 996 turbos are able to launch(without a 2 step) with decent 60 ft times and they are not into boost when launching because there is zero load generated when the clutch is in.How come you have never asked this same question to all the six speeds running around? Also the big turbos(35's) react a little differently on the bigger displacement, better flowing built motors for obvious reasons. The tip has a better chance of building boost pressure especially if the converter is modified to be "looser"than oem and the TCU is further modified. My first question after reviewing this motors build specs before i decided to make the bold statement of calling this setup laggy would have been...... What are the specs on the GT35's.

Absolutely amazing. People, please let's not turn this into another thread like the two that were closed. Enjoy what EVOMS is doing, I think he's made it clear that it's VERY early in the tuning process and he will absolutely give us more info as it emerges. I've got a few questions regarding the blow-off valves/y-pipe config. First, they look aewsome! How come you decided to use bov's instead of DV's, just to be different, or does it serve a purpose when going to a setup like this vs. dv's, perhaps better or more stable flow? Also, do they make the cool whistle/chirps that are so closely associated with BOV's? Will this system be transferable/available to a 996TT?

An auto is much better for boost than a manual car, IMO. If you launch off the stall, you are building boost off the line. Drivability depends on how big of a stall you want to go. The best part of the auto is the no lift shifts. You are effectively in boost throughout the whole run without any drops due to gear change, which the manual guys have to worry about.

Update. Still tuning. I will answer questions later. We did some higher boost pulls and she is NASTY

I have a silver one due in before the end of the year :-) It is ready for a MONSTER build
Thank you Scott. The BOV's, when set and the ECU tuned properly, work great and they are less hassle to install and plumb. I am not sure how they sound going through the gears with the decklid closed. We will have to wait and see. So far, these are pretty quiet but that may be due to all of the other noises being created by the engine We have built a few systems like this for the 996TT and building it this way is not a problem. Thank you for your comments and questions.

Here is a video from today. This video was about 850 AWHP. We hit as much as 872 AWHP but we are still dialing it in. Keep in mind that these are loaded dyno pulls in 5th gear. As you can see, it goes through 5h gear pretty quick. Tomorrow we will finalize the dyno tuning and will conduct some 6th gear pulls before we unleash it on the track to see how she will perform .

I couldn't pass up the deal on a very clean 996 GT2 with only 6600 miles that dyno's 550whp on pump.
I'll be in TX in March for TX2K10 and the mile. Hope to see you there.
