Yes, also the bottom, but no reported failures with these to my knowledge.

yes the wire comes of at the bottom, but you won't have a clicking sound of loose springs or broken drop links problems.Having sad that, on my car I installed damptronicks by myself more then two years ago and so far so good.I completely tape the pasm wire to lower part of the shock to prevent any vibration or movement

Believe it or not, this is an application that is perfectly suited to a zip tie. Tape can come off. A zip tie will not fatigue or come off.

That's actually a great idea! I'm just pissed that I'll have to spend another $1,000 or so uninstalling the faulty shock, shipping it back to Bilstein, waiting forever for them to repair it, and then pay my local shop to reinstall it! AND possibly have to do another alignment to make sure it's spot-on!

theautoculture is infamous around these parts
Had a similar issue after changing out my front driver CV axle.. reassembled the strut and had a loud clunk/pop! Fixed it because of a loose top nut then happened again after I wrapped the car. Got an alignment and asked the shop to check out the problem, suggested a loose top nut and they tightened it but I’m not sure how much.. I can’t believe, for such a big company, they don’t provide replacement pieces to buy immediately for their consumer. Currently doing research on a new set. I was already planning to do GT3/Cup uprights with JRZ Motorsport Doubles but that will have to be later.
