Straight Pipes?

How many of you on 6speed are running staight pipes on your TT. I know they are loud but how much louder than a sport exhaust? I have a TUBI which sounds good but the turbos are quiet and there is still a bit too much back pressure. Is there a lot of drone? Thanks

I have a few friends that had straight pipes on their 996TTs on the track. I found the novelty of a very loud exhaust becomes a nuisance after a few weeks. While they are great for track use, I don't think I would put them on a daily driver.

I ran straight pipes for about 2 months at which time I couldn't stand the drone any longer. From the outside it sounds mean and on the inside it is mean on the ears. The last few times I took it out I was wearing ear plugs and then I realized it was time. Some people say they can stand it but not me.

Thanks for the info, I will pass. I will hang on to my TUBI. The extra sound with the straight pipes is nice sometimes but probably not all the time. Drone can be very annoying over time. I just wish I could hear those turbos spooling up more....

We've sold several sets of our straight pipes, but if you ask me, they're a bit much for daily use. Very loud...I mean loud!

Which Tubi system do you have, street or race? If you have the Tubi street system, you might want to consider switching to a cat-less "race" system to get that extra sound without being over the top.

In fact, within the next week or so, we'll be making a big announcement about a VERY exciting new exhaust product for the 997 Turbo.....stay tuned.

I ran straight catless pipes on my 996TT for several months. I am now deaf. Also, they didn't provide enough backpressure for my 24/18g turbos and I lost almost a 10th of a second in my quarter mile time and .5s in my 60-130mph time. 10.70 to a 10.79s. But, I gained almost 3MPH in my trap time. I am loving my Miltek exhaust once again.

if you want to hear the turbos more get an intake. granted, you might lose power sucking in warm air though. I have a drop in filter, BMC, added a tiny bit of noise but not much.
