Bilstein Coilovers
#16
Thanks guys; thanks Eric. Credit should go to Bilstein USA Help Desk and the "pioneers" (6speedonline 996 turbo forum, rennlist, and some people here - you know who you are), from whom I collect the data. I merely categorize the upgrades into stages that all of us amateurs could understand.
I did emphasize a method from my days as an over-the-top audiophile : Isolate each component and describe the changes, in insufferable minute details LOL .
BTW, a graph of the 10 steps of PSS10 below. Note that each compression curve is "coupled" with a rebound curve. Higher compression force is coupled with higher rebound force. Not all tuners follow this philosophy and more "advanced" coilover allow you to change the 2 independently.
Also, Bilstein once told me Damptronic's Normal equals the PSS10's softest curve, and Firm equals the stiffest, but I am not convinced this is the case. There might also be some switching among the curves with the Damptronic during driving -- so we don't really know how many of these 10 curves are used in the Damptronic.
The horizontal axis is the velocity of the shaft of the shock absorber, not the car.
