What Loaner When the Car is Serviced?

I haven't personally had a chance to take advantage of local Porsche loaners yet. I am sure I will have a chance.

However, over the last 10 years at BMW and Mercedes dealers in town I have gotten 740Li, 550i, X5 4.8i, ML550, ml320CDI, C32, C350 as loaners at no cost, obviously.

What am I to expect from Porsche?

I have not been to impressed. Each time I took my car in for warranty service I asked to try another Porsche model. For the three years I took my car to the stealership I never recieved a Porsche loaner. Always some $hitbox. Not what I expected as a Turbo owner.

Like my Dad has told me many times, "if you keep your expectations low you will not be dissappointed".

I received a ragged out Audi A4 for my loaner with 65,000 miles. Fortunately it was only for 3-4 hours or so to perform the oil change service. I asked to drive a Cayenne and the dealer said they did not have any "available" as a loaner, though, I counted over 20 on the lot, with a few of them that were used.....I dont expect to drive away with a turbo as a loaner but another Porsche product seems appropriate.

My dealer is about 50 miles away and a small/mid size dealer. If just having a 3-4 hour service they will usually just ask me if there is anything on the lot I want to test drive to waste a few hours. (I've been a customer there since the late '70s.) If an over night appointment, they have a few Cayennes available and if none of them are available then will rent me a car from Enterprise. As long as it drives, I'm not fussy. Sometimes the rental cars are a good thing as it makes me appreciate the cars I have and brings me down to earth. They do the best they can but can't have a Porsche available for every service appointment on any given day.

Very interesting. Our local MB and BMW dealers give us loaners of comparable value. This seems to be discretionary at the dealership level. I would bet that there are no strict "guidelines" from Porsche which is bad. It's their responsibility to ensure congruent brand experience. They shouldn't blindly delegate "customer retention" onto independent businesses as some of them may (and sounds like they do) harm the brand...

I usually get a base Cayenne, but took the shuttle home once. The BMW dealership is attached and they have a 135i cab loaner I would like to borrow sometime.
